Yūji Terajima to debut 1-shot "side story" in next issue on July 15

This year's 32nd issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine announced on Wednesday that Yūji Terajima will launch the second part of his Ace of Diamond (Daiya no A) manga in the magazine's 38th issue, which Kodansha will publish on August 19.

Terajima concluded the manga's first part in January, and had announced then that he planned to launch the second part of the manga in spring.

Terajima will also publish a 30-page one-shot "side story" for the Ace of Diamond manga in the 33rd issue on July 15. The manga will also adorn the front cover of the issue.

The manga's story follows eijun Sawamura, a pitcher who joins an elite school with a brilliant catcher named Kazuya Miyuki. Together with the rest of the team, they strive for Japan's storied Kōshien championships through hard work and determination.

Terajima launched the baseball manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2006, and Kodansha released the 46th volume on March 17. The manga won the shōnen category of the 34th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2010.

The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in 2013, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. A second season of the anime premiered in April, and Crunchyroll is also streaming the series as it airs.

The manga also inspired three original anime DVDs.

A stage play adaptation is slated to run in Tokyo's Shinjuku Kinokuniya Southern Theatre in August after being delayed from January. The play's lead actor Ren Ozawa has previously been photographed in costume.
