Nisekoi Manga Ends on Monday As Creator Plans New Manga in October

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Naoshi Komi's series launched in 2011 after 1-shot story & inspired 2 television anime in 2014, 2015

Manga creator Naoshi Komi is publishing the final chapter of his Nisekoi - False Love manga series in the combined 36th/37th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on Monday. The manga's 25th and final compiled book volume is slated for October.

The magazine also notes that Komi's next work will run in Shueisha's Jump Giga Vol. 4 magazine (formerly known as Shōnen Jump NEXT!!) on October 20. The new work, which is not necessarily a full series, will have a color opening page.

Weekly Shonen Jump noted on Monday that the next issue's chapter of Nisekoi - False Love would be the "climax" chapter. The magazine previously noted in June that the manga is entering its climax.

The manga is a romantic comedy that follows the story of high-schooler and yakuza family member Raku Ichijo, who is forced into a fake relationship with Chitoge Kirisaki, the daughter of a rival gang's boss, and they must pretend to be in love so as to prevent their rival families from fighting. While acting out their romance, Raku realizes that Chitoge has a mysterious key from her past, which she can't remember, and he has a pendant that can only be unlocked by his childhood sweetheart. To complicate matters, two more girls with keys also appear.

Komi drew the original "Nisekoi" one-shot manga in Shueisha's Jump Next! magazine in early 2011, and turned it into a manga series in November of the same year. Shueisha shipped the manga's 24th compiled book volume (seen right) on Thursday, August 4. Viz Media's English version of Weekly Shonen Jump is serializing chapters of the manga in English, and the company also published the manga's 16th compiled volume in print on July 5.

The series inspired two television anime seasons. The anime's first season premiered in Japan in January 2014 with 20 episodes. The 12-episode second season premiered in Japan in April 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the first series, and Aniplex streamed the second series on the Aniplex Channel, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Daisuki services. Aniplex released the first series on four Blu-ray Disc volumes from November 2014 to May 2015, and is releasing the second anime on two Blu-ray Disc volumes in June and August.
