KochiKame's Osamu Akimoto Publishes 4 New Manga in 2017

Revives Mr. Clice action comedy, plans stories about girls' academy, female gunslinger, bath house

This year's 42nd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Saturday that manga creator Osamu Akimoto will publish four new manga across four different Shueisha publications in 2017. The four manga — which are not necessarily series and are referenced as short stories — are titled Kyoto Jogakuin Monogatari -Finder- (Kyoto Girls Academy Story -Finder-), Mr. Clice, Black Tiger, and Ii Yu da ne!, although the titles and story are subject to change before publication.

Kyoto Jogakuin Monogatari -Finder- will run in Weekly Young Jump, and will center on the lives of students at a girls academy on the outskirts of Kyoto.

Mr. Clice will run in Jump Square, and will be a revival of Akimoto's similarly titled manga, which ended in 2007 in Monthly Shonen Jump. Like the previous manga, the action comedy will center on Jim Clice, a Japanese secret agent with the body of a woman but the mind of a man.

Black Tiger will run in Grand Jump, and will be set in a wasteland where survival is a struggle. The "violence gun action" story will center on a beautiful gunslinger who travels the frontier.

Ii Yu da ne! will run in Ultra Jump, and will be a sequel to Kochikame. It is set in a bath house adjacent to a police station located in Tokyo's Shitamachi area, and will feature a beautiful foreign woman.

Akimoto is publishing the final chapter of Kochikame — after four decades of serialization — in the 42nd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on Saturday, September 17. The manga's 200th and final compiled volume will also ship on September 17.

The manga series has about 150 million copies in print as of June when the 199th volume shipped.
