Series ends with 24 volumes after 10 years; artist begins new series

The 24th and final volume of Hiroyuki Yoshino and Kenetsu Satou's Seikon no Qwaser (Qwaser of Stigmata) manga shipped in Japan on Tuesday. The final chapter of the manga ran in the September issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine on July 9.

Satou began a new series titled Otome to Chigiri (Maiden and Promise) in Champion RED's October issue on August 19. In the story, protagonist Futaba Chikiri attends a school where, by the rules, the loser of a duel must obey the winner. Aiming to be the strongest, Futaba challenges the school leader Kaguya Otomezawa.

Tokyopop describes the story of Seikon no Qwaser:

In the near future, a dark war is being waged between Qwasers, supernatural 'humans' made by the Church to control the elements, and [Mafuyu] Oribe, a bullied school girl, is about to become the conflict's center! Attacked by a Qwaser seeking a closely guarded Romanov family artifact that holds the power to grant wishes, Oribe pairs up with a mysterious silver-haired boy, another Qwaser, for the battle of their lives as they withstand the attacks of some very powerful - and curvaceous - super humans!

Satou began the Seikon no Qwaser manga based on Yoshino's story in 2006 in Champion RED magazine. Tokyopop released part of the manga in North America before it closed its doors in 2011, and Sentai Filmworks licensed both seasons of the anime adaptation.
