Crunchyroll to Stream BBK/BRNK Sequel, Izetta, Magical Girl Raising Project, Brave Witches

Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream BUBUKI/BURANKI The Gentle Giants of the Galaxy (BBK/BRNK Hoshi no Kyojin), Izetta: The Last Witch (Izetta, Die Letzte Hexe or Shūmatsu no Izetta), Magical Girl Raising Project, Brave Witches, and the second half of Bungo Stray Dogs as they air in Japan.

In addition, Funimation revealed that it will provide English broadcast dubs for Nanbaka and Izetta: The Last Witch. Funimation did not announce a premiere date for the broadcast dubs. Crunchyroll previously announced that it will stream Nanbaka as it airs in Japan.

In the world of BBK/BRNK, It's been ten years since Azuma Kazuki has been in Japan, and upon his arrival he is taken prisoner by a group of armed men. Azuma is saved by his childhood friend, Kogane Asabuki, thanks to a living weapon she wields on her right hand, known as a Bubuki. Learning about these weapons, Azuma becomes a Bubuki wielder himself and sets out on a journey.

The anime will begin streaming on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. EDT, and will be available worldwide except for users in Asia; Spain; Portugal; Australia; New Zealand; and German-, French-, Italian- and Dutch-Speaking Europe.

The original BBK/BRNK television anime series served as SANZIGEN Animation Studio's 10th anniversary animation project. The series premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo on January 9. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

Megumi Han (who plays Reoko Banryū in the series) is performing the opening theme song "Reirō taru Junketsu wa 'Kōen' no Kairai o Hayarase, Gyōten ni Kirameku Akashi o Kizamu.", and Mikako Komatsu (who plays Shizuru Taneomi in the series) is performing the ending theme song "so beautiful ;- )".

Funimation describes Izetta: The Last Witch:

Set in an alternate Earth on the eve of the 2nd World War, the story of Shūmatsu no Izetta follows Izetta, the last surviving member of a clan of witches that possesses the ability to magically manipulate any object that they touch. Izetta pledges to help protect Princess Fine and the tiny Alpine kingdom of [Eylstadt] from invasion by the imperialistic forces of Germania.

The anime will begin streaming on Saturday, October 1 at 11:45 a.m. EDT, and will be available worldwide except for users in Asia.

Masaya Fujimori (Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess, Tribe Cool Crew) is directing the anime at Ajia-do (Nintama Rantaro, Kujibiki Unbalance, Emma: A Victorian Romance Second Act). Hiroyuki Yoshino (Accel World, Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, Guilty Crown) is both overseeing and writing the scripts. BUNBUN is designing the characters, and Yuu Yamashita (Bunny Drop, A Certain Scientific Railgun) is adapting those designs for animation and serving as chief animation director. Monthly Panzer magazine's editor in chief Takashi Izumi and editor Yūsuke Tsuge (Note: both name romanizations aren't confirmed) are in charge of military direction.

Orange is producing the CG, GREEN is producing the art, and Yukio Nagasaki is the sound director. MICHIRU is composing the music at Flying Dog. AKINO with Bless4 is performing the opening theme song "Cross the LINE," and May'n is performing the ending theme song "Hikari Aru Basho e" (To Where the Light Is).

Magical Girl Raising Project, based on Asari Endō's Mahō Shōjo Ikusei Keikaku light novels, is set in a world where a social game called The Magical Girl Raising Project allows one in tens of thousands of people to be a "magical girl" — possessing extraordinary physical capabilities and looks, as well as special magical powers that set them apart from the rest of the human race. But one day, in a district containing 16 magical girls, the administration announces that it must halve the number of magical girls to solve the problem of magical energy. At first, the 16 magical girls race to collect more "magical candy" than their competitors, but the rules quickly become twisted, and it quickly becomes a murderous battle for survival among them.

The anime will premiere in Japan on the AT-X channel on October 1 at 24:00 (effectively, October 2 at midnight), before also running on Tokyo MX, BS11, and the GyaO! streaming service in Japan. Crunchyroll will announce the premiere date and regions for the series at a later date.

Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Is the order a rabbit?) is directing the anime at Lerche, with Takao Yoshioka (Elfen Lied, High School DxD, Your Lie in April) supervising and writing the scripts. Yukiko Aikei (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Accel World, Your Lie in April) is designing the characters for animation.

Manami Numakura (the voice of Ripple in the anime) is performing the opening theme song "Sakebe" (Shout). Nano is performing the ending theme song "Dreamcatcher."

Brave Witches is a spinoff of the Strike Witches series, and will center on the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing "Brave Witches," unlike the earlier anime's focus on the 501st JOINT FIGHTER WING "Strike Witches."

The series will premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX and other channels on October 5 at 1:35 a.m. Crunchyroll will announce the premiere date and regions for the series at a later date.

Kazuhiro Takamura is returning from Strike Witches to direct the Brave Witches anime. SILVER LINK is also returning from Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow to animate the series. Striker Unit is credited with series composition, while Humikane Shimada is credited with the original character designs (which Takamura is adapting for animation). Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Daijō Kudō are planning the project.

Takaaki Suzuki is returning from the Strike Witches television anime series, original video anime, and film to serve as military history adviser and to be in charge of world setting. Hiroyuki Terao is returning to provide mechanical designs. Tomohiro Yoshida is again serving as sound director at Glovision. Seikou Nagaoka is returning to compose the music, and Nippon Columbia is producing the music.

Singer Yoko Ishida will perform a theme song for the anime. Ishida has performed theme songs for both Strike Witches anime series, the anime film, and the Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow OVA.

The Bungo Stray Dogs "battle action" story centers around a league of literary figures with supernatural powers. For example, in real life, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa wrote acclaimed stories that inspired Akira Kurosawa 's Rashōmon film and the Aoi Bungaku Series anime's Jigoku Hen (Hell Screen) arc. In Bungo Stray Dogs, he has the power to transform and manipulate his cloak into a monster-like entity. Together, some of these writers solve mysteries as part of the "Armed Detective Agency," while others appear as antagonists.

The anime's second half (starting with the 13th episode) will premiere on Tokyo MX and WOWOW on Monday, October 5 at 25:05 (effectively Tuesday, October 6 at 1:05 a.m.). Crunchyroll will announce the premiere date and regions for the series at a later date.

The first 12 episodes aired in April to June, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

Takuya Igarashi and Yoji Enokido, the director and screenwriter team behind Ouran High School Host Club and Star Driver, are helming the anime at Studio BONES. Nobuhiro Arai (Chaika the Coffin Princess) is handling character design and is serving as chief animation director alongside Hiroshi Kanno (Blast of Tempest). Ryō Hirata is handling prop design and sub character design, while Fumihiro Katagai (Chaika the Coffin Princess) is in charge of gun design. Taku Iwasaki (Gatchaman Crowds, Black Butler) is composing the music and Kazuhiro Wakabayashi (Ghost in the Shell, Blue Exorcist) is serving as sound director at Glovision.

The band SCREEN mode will perform the anime's new opening theme song "Reason Living," and Luck Life will perform the ending theme song "Kaze ga Fuku Machi" (The Town Where the Wind Blows).

Nanbaka adapts Shō Futamata's manga of the same name. The original manga centers around four prisoners: Jyugo, a man who attempted to break out of prison and ended up extending his jail time; Uno, a man who likes to gamble with women; Rock, a man who likes to get into fights; and Niko, a man who likes anime. Along with their warden Hajime, the high-tension action comedy story unfolds.

The anime will begin streaming on October 4 at 3:30 p.m. EDT, and will be available worldwide except for users in Asia.

Shinji Takamatsu (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, School Rumble, Gintama) is directing the anime, with scripts by Mitsutaka Hirota (The Prince of Tennis II, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation).

The main cast — Yūto Uemura, Tetsuya Kakihara, Airu Shiozaki, Daiki Kobayashi, and Tomokazu Seki — will perform the ending theme song "Nanbaka Datsugoku Riron♪!" (Nanbaka Jailbreak Theory) as their characters.

The ending theme song will be coupled with a song titled "Nanbaka Kanshu Riron!!" (Nanbaka Jailer Theory), performed by Kimeru, Sōichiro Hoshi, and Shouma Yamamoto. The anime will also release two mini albums with solo character songs, one focusing on the prisoners and one focusing on the jailers.
