Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! 2 (KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! 2), the second anime adaptation of Natsume Akatsuki's KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! light novel series. The first episode will premiere on Wednesday, January 11 at 1:35 p.m. EST worldwide outside of Asia, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand; and German, French, Italian and Dutch Speaking Europe.

The new season will premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX on January 11 at 25:05 a.m. (effectively January 12 at 1:05 a.m.). The anime will also air on Sun TV, TV Q Kyūshū, Gifu Broadcasting, Mie TV, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, tvk, and BS11. The anime will also stream in Japan on d Anime Store and Niconico.

The main cast and staff are returning for the second season, although assistant director of photography Hisashi Yonezawa is taking over as director of photography. Machico is performing the new season's opening theme song after doing the same for the first season. Similarly, Sora Amamiya, Rie Takahashi, and Ai Kayano are performing the ending theme song "Ōuchi ni Kaeritai" (I Want to Go Home) as their characters Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness, respectively.

Akatsuki's light novel series centers around Kazuma Satō, a hikikomori (shut-in) die-hard fan of games, anime, and manga. A traffic accident brings his disappointingly brief life to an end … or it should have, but he wakes up and sees a beautiful girl who introduces herself as a goddess. "Hey, I have some good news — would you like to go to an alternate world? You may only bring one thing you like with you."

He responds, "…So, I'll bring you." With that, he is transported to another world and his great adventure subjugating the demon king begins … but first the hard work of finding food, clothing, and shelter begins. Kazuma wants to live in peace, but the goddess raises one problem after another, and then the demon king's army has its eyes set on him.

The first television anime series premiered last January, and its 10th and final episode aired last March. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

The television anime's first Blu-ray Disc and DVD volume shipped on March 25 with an original PC game. An original video anime on Blu-ray Disc shipped with the limited edition of the ninth volume of the original light novels in June.
