The film sold 166,000 tickets, and earned 214 million yen (about US$1.91 million) on its opening weekend. The film opened on April 29. Akira Nagai (Sekai Kara Neko ga Kieta Nara) directed the film, and Yoshihiro Izumi (live-action Death Note, anohana) penned the script.

Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Shūrai! Uchūjin Shiriri (Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Invasion! Alien Shiriri), the Crayon Shin-chan franchise's 25th anime film, fell from #6 to #7 in its fourth weekend.

The live-action film of Hiroaki Samura's Blade of the Immortal "neo period drama" manga fell from #8 to #10 on its third weekend. The film sold 145,000 tickets and earned 189 million yen (about US$1.68 million) in its opening weekend. The film opened in Japan on April 29.
