Manga ends with message asking readers to await the "reappearance of Zig"

This year's 18th issue of Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine published the "final" chapter of Takashi Nagasaki and Tetsuya Saruwatari's Zig manga on Wednesday. While the chapter is labeled as the "final chapter," the magazine also notes that readers should await the "reappearance of Zig." The manga's first compiled book volume is slated for October 19.

The story centers on the mysterious Japanese person known as "Zig." He travels to the world's conflict areas in different jobs. When the story begins he is working as a security guard at a bank that is suddenly taken over by terrorists.

The manga launched in Grand Jump on March 15.

Nagasaki served as an editor of Naoki Urasawa's Monster manga, and the producer of his Pluto manga. He wrote the script for the live-action film adaptation of Urasawa's 20th Century Boys manga, and collaborated with Urasawa as the writer for Master Keaton Remaster and co-writer for Billy Bat. He and Urasawa recently ended Billy Bat in August 2016.

Saruwatari was the artist for Masahiko Takajō's Riki-Oh manga, which was adapted two original video anime (OAVs) in 1989 and 1990, as well as a 1991 live-action film. His Dog Soldier manga was also adapted into an OAV. His Kōkō Tekken-den Tough manga ran from 1993 until 2003, and relaunched as Tough from 2003-2012. Viz Media published six volumes in English. The manga inspired the 2004 Shootfighter Tekken OAV. A spinoff titled Tough Guyden: Ryū o Tsugu Otoko launched in Weekly Playboy in 2016.
