Gekijōban Seitokai Yakuindomo film falls from top 5 chart in 5th weekend

The third and final episode of The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star (Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito) prequel OVA series debuted at #1 on the mini-theater ranking in Japan during the August 19-20 weekend. The episode will screen in Japan for two weeks, and screenings also include the first episode of the upcoming TV anime series.

The first episode of the prequel OVA series had a two-week run in eight theaters throughout Japan in August 2016. The episode was later bundled with the sixth compiled volume of Kore Yamazaki's original manga series in December. The second part opened in seven Japanese theaters on February 4, and shipped with the seventh manga volume on March 10. The third part will ship with the eighth volume of the manga on September 9. The Blu-ray Disc of the anime will ship this winter. Crunchyroll is streaming the first two parts of the anime.

The television anime will premiere on Tokyo MX and MBS at night on October 7, before later airing on AT-X, TV Aichi, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, Hokkaido Broadcasting, and BS11. Wit Studio presented the first three episodes of the television series at Anime Expo last month, and Crunchyroll screened the episodes in theaters on July 26. Several theaters in Japan will also screen the first three episodes on September 9.

Gekijōban Seitokai Yakuindomo, the theatrical anime project based on Tozen Ujiie's Seitokai Yakuindomo manga, fell from the mini-theater ranking chart in the August 19-20 weekend, the anime's fifth weekend in theaters (Kogyo Tsushin's mini-theater chart only lists the top 5 films each week). The film topped the mini-theater ranking in its first and second weekends, and ranked at #2 in its third and fourth weekends. More theaters will begin screening the film on September 2.
