Southeast Asian film distributor Odex announced on Monday that it will open the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection anime film in nine Southeast Asian territories, including Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Brunei. It only provided an opening date window for three territories: in Singapore (fan screening in early October), Malaysia (fan screening in late November), the Philippines (fan screening in late October), and Vietnam (fan screening in late September). Odex previously revealed it would screen the film in Singapore as part of its Odex Film Festival event on October 5 to 8.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection opened on July 22 at 73 theaters and ranked at #8 in the Japanese box office.

In the film's story, a pair of researchers stay behind on their dying planet of Eltria with their two daughters, Amitie and Kirie, in hopes of finding a way to revive the planet. But when the husband Granz falls ill it seems their dream of reviving the planet will die. Against her older sister's wishes, Kirie sets off with her childhood friend Iris to seek help from a distant alternate world. They arrive in Japan on Earth to search for the key to their planet's regeneration. There, they meet Nanoha Takamachi, Fate T. Harlaown, and Hayate Yagami.

Franchise creator Masaki Tsuzuki previously stated in an interview with Gakken's Megami Magazine that the story will be completely new, and will take place three months after Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the Movie 2nd A's, when Nanoha and the other characters are in the summer of their fifth grade.

The film will open in Japan on July 22. The second wave of advance tickets will go on sale on Saturday and come with A3-size clear posters of Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate. The project is planned as two films. The second film, titled Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation, will open in 2018.

Haruka Tomatsu voiced Amitie Florian, and Satomi Satou voiced Kirie Florian. Both characters debuted in the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's Portable: The Gears of Destiny PlayStation Portable game in 2011, but have not appeared in any anime in the franchise. Tomatsu and Satou reprised their roles from the game. (Slightly different versions of Dearche, Shtel, and Leby also appeared in the game.) Yōko Hikasa played the new character Iris.

Ueda, Tamura, Mizuki are also reprising their returning characters of Hayate Yagami, Nanoha Takamachi, and Fate T. Harlaown, respectively.

Other cast members include:

Masaki Tsuzuki is credited with the original work, and also penned the script. Takayuki Hamana (The Prince of Tennis, Library War, Appleseed XIII) directed the film at Seven Arcs Pictures. Kana Hashidate (Dog Days) drew the character designs, and Shochiku distributed the film.
