Group performed 1st season's ending theme

This year's October issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine will announce on Monday that Unison Square Garden, the group that performed the ending theme song for the first anime season based on Yasuhiro Nightow's Blood Blockade Battlefront manga, will return to perform the opening theme song "fake town baby" for the second season, Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond (Kekkai Sensen & Beyond). The single CD will ship on November 15.

The anime will premiere on MBS, Tokyo MX, and BS11 in October. The new series will explore the connection between Michella and Leo and will also explore the mysteries of the "All Seeing Eyes of God."

The returning main cast includes:

BONES will once again animate the new series. Shigehito Takayanagi (Galaxy Angel A, The World God Only Knows, Dagashi Kashi) is taking over as director of the anime from the previous season's Rie Matsumoto, and Yasuko Kamo (Dagashi Kashi) is also taking over series composition duties from Kazunao Furuya. Toshihiro Kawamoto returns as character designer and chief animation director, and Taisei Iwasaki returns to compose the music.

The first television anime series adaptation premiered in April 2015 and ran for 12 episodes. The 12th and final episode aired in October 2015 after a delay.

Funimation streamed the anime with English subtitles as it aired in Japan. The company also streamed an English broadcast dub of the series.

Blood Blockade Battlefront also inspired an original anime DVD (OAD) that shipped with the Blood Blockade Battlefront Binge Bible guidebook in June 2016. Matsumoto also directed the OAD.
