posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

NHK announced on Friday that a live-action television series of Yoshiie Gōda's Otoko no Misao manga has been green-lit. The seven-episode series will premiere on BS Premium on November 12. The show will have seven episodes.

Nonji Nemoto and Tomohiro Yokomaku are penning the scripts. Tōru Ishitsuka and Kanō Kawashima are composing the music. Tsunku is composing the theme song "Otoko no Misao," with lyrics by Gōda.

The cast includes:

The comedy manga centers on Misao Itsuki, an unpopular enka singer who dreams big.

Gōda published the original manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine in 2006. Shogakukan published the manga in two volumes in the same year, and reprinted it in a single volume collection in 2015.

Gōda's Jigyaku no Uta manga inspired the Happily Ever After live-action film in 2007. In 2009, his Kūki Ningyō manga inspired the Air Doll live-action film by director Hirokazu Kore-eda.
