Anime to premiere theatrically in Japan on January 27; BD/DVD ships in March

The official website for The Testament of Sister New Devil television anime announced on Friday that Tetsuto Uesu's original Shinmai Maō no Testament light novels are inspiring a new 60-minute original video anime (OVA) titled Shinmai Maō no Testament Departures (The Testament of Sister New Devil Departures). The OVA will have a two-week limited theatrical screening at Tokyo's Kadokawa Cinema Shinjuku, Nagoya's Fushimi Millionza, and Osaka's Umeda Burg 7 theaters beginning on January 27.

The OVA will also receive a Blu-ray Disc and DVD release on March 28. The release will bundle a new novel by Uesu. The anime's main cast will appear at an event at the Tora no Ana Akihabara store in Tokyo on March 17 to celebrate the release of the OVA and a new Blu-ray Disc box set of the two television anime seasons.

The first 12-episode season of the television anime adaptation premiered in January 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the first season in various territories as it aired. The second season, titled The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST, premiered in October 2015. Crunchyroll also streamed the second season as it aired in Japan. The anime received an original anime disc with the seventh volume of the manga.

Funimation will release both the first season and the second season on home video through its partnership with Crunchyroll. The first season will get both regular and limited-edition Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo packs on October 31. The limited edition is only available online, and it includes chipboard box and an artbook with special "ultra-sexy" artwork.

Kashiwa Miyako launched a manga adaption of Uesu's novels in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in May 2013. Seven Seas has licensed the manga for sale in North America, as well as the spin-off manga The Testament of Sister New Devil Storm! by Fumihiro Kiso.
