Dear Ms. Answerman,
First I would like to say how much help your column provides me from things
ranging from release dates to burnng questions that had been plauging me but
I never asked. All right! Now that we have that taken care of, my question
is this. But first some back story. I was reading my Tokyopop edition of
Gravitation Volume 3 and had just completed it. I turned to one of the last
pages of the book and noticed the " ALSO AVAILABLE FROM TOKYOPOP" section
had REALLY grown, so I read through the titles. One of the titles that
really caught my eyes was "Saiyuki". Now, usually when Tokyopop gets a new
title they put it in their books with the books release date ( i.e. February
2004). The title Saiyuki, however, did not have a relwase date. So, does
that mean it already came out ? that it was a typo? I'm obviously suffering
from some sickness that causes me to see things that aren't really there?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There was actually a bit of news on this about six months ago when a few anime fans found Saiyuki and a number of other manga titles listed on their web page. Saiyuki and the other titles were removed shortly afterwards and there's still no mention of Saiyuki on the web page.
If it's a typo, it's a big one since Girl Got Game (vol 1), Demon Dairy (vol 5), and Vampire Game (vol 4) have listed Saiyuki in their “Also Available” list. Tokyopop hasn't officially announced it in any other form though, however, they seem to have a habit of letting titles slip onto their website or into the "coming soon" list without any announcement. It's pretty safe to assume that they do have the license for Saiyuki, but as for when it'll be released... who knows? UPDATE: After this column was written, Tokyopop posted that the first volume of Saiyuki will be released March 2.

Yup, you'd be right. The music to Discovery isn't just some nifty music in the background, but it actually follows along with the anime (and/or vice versa). I got a question about this a few months ago asking about a release date, and I'm happy to report that Interstella is available on DVD.

Hello my name is Daniel Eide and I live in Norway
I am a very Big Fan of Anime and justt loves a serie called "HunterXHunter"
and I would like to know more and since I am norwegian I dont know Japanese
and cant read whats on the Official websites. So what I would like to know
is if Hunter x Hunter will come out with more episodes!

Even though I'm not a fan of the endless tournament fighting series out there (it's a wonder I'm still watching Naruto at this point), Hunter X Hunter found a place in my heart by adding flavor to a genre that's familiar with dragging fights out over far too many episodes. I know I'm not the only one, since the 62 episode long TV series wasn't enough for Japanese fans. Two more OVA series were created (both 8 episodes long), and a third OVA series has recently been announced! Titled G. I. Final, this latest installment will be released on seven DVDs (two episodes each) starting February 18th, with the final DVD due out in August.

Could you please tell me if ANY type of anime has been planned for
Alice 19th? I really love the manga and I want to see an anime made for it.
I know that Studio Pierrot has been making all the Watase Yuu animes
recently, so have they mentioned anything? Please tell me...Thank you so

As far as I know, there are no plans to turn Alice 19th into an anime series. It is a nice series, but it's hard to tell why this series (or any for that matter) don't make the cut. Costs, popularity, plot, timing, and a slew of other things that most of us would never think about come into play when a manga is considered for anime, but it's obvious that one thing or another has kept this series from finding a home on our TVs.

Dear Ms. Answerman
I've watched a lot of Magical Girl shows so far but never once have I
seen a Magical Boy show. Does such a thing exist? The closest I've ever seen
to a magical boy show was Ronin Warriors. I remember hearing about something
called "Chouja Reideen" having magical girl-esque transformation scenes just
with guys, is there anything else even kind of like that? Also have any of
shows like that been licensed?

Yup, magical boy shows do exist! The most obvious one that jumps to mind is Matantei Loki Ragnarok, in which the god Loki is banished to Earth and forced to take on the body of a young boy. He has two magical attacks which play out with nifty backdrops of red and green, and he transforms a few times between his younger and older form. There's also Naruto, which includes a cast of young girls and boys but focuses on two particular boys (Naruto and Sasuke) who can use their chakra to perform magic-like feats. I've never seen Chouja Reideen, so I can't comment on its magical boy status, but Ronin Warriors does fit some of the necessary requirements. I'm sure there are others (so please don't send emails saying “you forgot this show!!”), but this'll have to do for now.
