Damn, what a fast episode. So full of things happening that it felt like it was barely 8 minutes long. Well Blood will be happy about 1 thing, it is increasingly looking like Meela is a hesitant compatriot of the organisation conspiracy. Especially with the story spending time outlining their behaviour as outsiders drawn in by avarice.

I guess this will be the major story line of the season. I hope it has a second cour planned because I have thoroughly enjoyed this show. It might be the best of the season for me that isnt one of the greats from last season continuing.

Episode 10

I gotta say this show is being maddening about dragging out whatever the eff is the truth about Meela. At this point, I'm still not sure if she is completely innocent or if she's complicit but with mitigating factors. The show seems to be leaning towards the latter but is taking its sweet time about letting us know. Surely to eff next week?

Probably my least favorite episode of the season, though I've liked the season a lot, so that's not as bad as it sounds.

I do kind of wish they'd condensed this whole busting the organization thing by one episode. Poor Ivy's former incarnation has been dinging away at Ivy's consciousness with helpful suggestions like one of those bells they put on receptionist desks, and the season's going to end with Ivy being made the chief of covert operations at this rate.

As to Meela, if they're going for a mitigating or redemption angle, I can only hope that Ivy is the first child she's tried to kidnap out of desperation and that she can't go through with it. Because if the show is going for an "I only sold 12 children to traffickers but I'm not really a bad person" angle...I don't even know how to finish that sentence.

And a sleeping sphere? Not a fan of the idea.

That said, again, I've really enjoyed this anime. It just felt like they repeated a lot of the same dynamics while making very little real plot progress this week. Hope the show wraps up strong next week.

No shit. Smile And somehow she's smart enough to keep her incarnation a secret, and yet she has no filter at all. Old self rings in and she just blurts out whatever was suggested to her with no thought at all as to how it sounds to the people around her, no hesitation to consider what it means or how to rephrase it for her companions, or if she should even tell them at all.

Her being smart and clever only operates when the story needs it to, otherwise she's thick as a brick, because the story needs her to be.

Yup. But y'know, your post reminded me that her being a weird fusion of an adult and a 9 year old gives her more of an excuse than a lot of anime characters whose IQ and EQ fluctuate in response to plot convenience. Not that the anime still hasn't managed to strain belief in the last two episodes even so.

A rather rousing episode. Quite a different atmosphere to the older survival content. Mostly this episode makes me think about what the future entails. Ivy been the centrepiece of so much activity will not allow her to hide from scrutiny. Will there be consequences for their activities, and will Ivy seek to hide from such attention? Those question and more interest me far more then the capture of the organisation members themselves. I guess the story just hasn't been about these organisation people so I care little outside of what it means for Ivy.

I also wonder how many people will be released from lack of evidence and other harsher human realities. Also the mention of terrible punishments again reminds us both of Ivy's wanted status and how the world can cruel.

Only 1 episode left so likely not many of those questions will have room for answers. Heres hoping the second cour is already booked. I do not want to wait years for another season.

Episode 11

OH, FFS!!! REALLY??? WE ACTUALLY AREN'T GOING TO FIND OUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MEELA UNTIL NEXT EPISODE??? Seriously, somebody needs a swift kick to the nuts and for once it's not me. I have a hard time believing that Meela is going to end up a slave for the rest of her life. Gee, I wonder if I'll actually find out next episode. OH, PROBABLY NOT!!!

You didn't like that Meela decided to face her sins and stop her brothers Blood? Personally I think this is the type of story that will tell us that Meela will get a reduced sentence but will be punished.

Oh, I definitely liked that part. It's the part about having to wait to find out what happens to her that bugs me. As I say, I don't see her becoming a slave for the rest of her life but I also don't see her getting off scot-free, either. I'm curious as to what her ultimate resolution is going to be and this dang show seems to LOVE making me wait to find out.

Well, there was no scene of Meela being cuffed, and when the guard showed up, they said "Take these two away, not take these three away." Granted, it's because Meela didn't have to be carried, but it's still a good sign.

And the reason they're making such a big deal out of finding additional evidence against all the guards is because they want to keep Sora a secret. So when it comes to trial time, they can't just say, "Send him to the mines because this slime gets shivery around him." They're going to need witnesses who will cooperate, and Meela seems willing. After all, the calculating little minx turned on her brothers on a dime when she realized the jig was up, and her crocodile tears are top notch. No, just kidding! I think. No, yeah, just kidding.

And this is also the anime that used magic nets and sleeping sphere to take all the organization alive with no casualties on either side, so I doubt it's going to suddenly go completely hardcore on Meela's sentencing.

The last episode hit me nicely in the feels. It didn't do anything extremely special, just delivered on its "happy ending (with continuation possible)" set-up.
I'm currently grieving a loss, so a little healing anime was just what the doctor ordered. I think my departed friend would have appreciated it, she too was a strong and brilliant girl who loved her cute companions.

I was a little worried that they wouldn't address what happened to Meela at all, gladly they gave her a little leeway, but apparently still understandably being punished for her crimes. I could see her coming back, maybe Ivy could save her after being released, penniless, jobless, and friendless. Although the red-head also cares for her too.

And what a nice after-credits scene. Sora watching her fellows disintegrate all around her, luckily being discovered before the same fate befell her too.

After Ivy told her story and there was that brief moment of silence, I was waiting for someone to go, "Well....that was interesting, Ivy. Thank's for trusting us. Now excuse us, we have to go burn down your old villag (cough) I mean, finish the paperwork from this whole, y'know, organization thing..."

This anime came out of nowhere for me. I didn't watch any trailers or read any descriptions, probably because the cover art and title convinced me that it was the kind of cutesy anime that gives me the hives. I just watched it on a whim because work was canceled that first Friday because of winter weather, But it became one of my favorites of the season. It lost a little steam when Ivy went from desperate fugitive to hidden boss of the bad guy busting alliance IMHO, but it wasn't like other isekai where the MC goes from underdog to kingdom destroying demi-god in one easy cheat skill. I also liked that Ivy is legitimately a kid, and that whatever memories she has of being an adult from our world are submerged and only present themselves as occasional Tinkerbell text messages referring to memories that she doesn't actually remember.

As to Meela...with all that talk of the case getting complicated and talk about family members of royals getting involved in the organization, I wouldn't be surprised if she winds up in the Royal Capital as a witness and/or probation type around the same time that Ivy gets there. But maybe that's just me.

I thought her big reveal was going to be to tell them she's a girl. Which she never did! (I wonder if the redhead will spill the beans while she's gone) Instead she launches into her life story, which is always fun at parties, right? I kept recalling the scene from Airplane! where Ted Striker keeps telling everyone about his past. Laughing

The slime documentary at the end was cute though.

Episode 12 (Finale)

I blame Edjwald for me watching this. And by "blame", of course I mean "thank." I was gonna blow it off but he kept writing nice things about it and even though, as Gina often says, his taste is the pits, I decided to take a flyer this time and glad I did. I have to admit that in the very beginning, I was worried this might go the Made in Abyss misery porn route... you know, "hey let's create a super cute character and put him/her/it through the tortures of the damned, for funsies!" Fortunately, that turned out not to be the case. I'm rating this as Good.

By the way, really like the ED song, a lot.

I managed to get through the ED in the last episode, which is some effort because it makes me want to cry every time with how affirming it is for someone who has felt so isolated. It was such a lovely ending with Ivy having some good friends.

It gave me some really good feels in the always be nice to kids way. I do think some shows try to do that whole parental thing, which often feels a bit forced, but dang do I feel that with all of these guys with Ivy.
