um for the name change, This has been the ONLY place I've ever seen it spelt Bedaman. Even on Japan Toys.com which is a website for the real store in OSAKA JAPAN, has been selling them for the past year under the name B-Daman.

Here below is my guide to B-Daman
--------------------------------------

B-DAMAN: THE OFFICIAL ARRIVAL TO THE USA

Okay here's the official press release again:

http://www.hasbro.com/media/pl/page.release/dn/default.cfm?release=334

According to:

http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/6473.html

The B-Daman Anime starts in April on ABC (I dunno if this is ABC Family or regular ABC network) I'll keep looking for info...
For Europe:
http://www.c21media.net/resources/detail.asp?area=79&article=23311
Cartoon Network in Europe will broadcast B-Daman.

Here are some pictures straight from the International Toy Fair currently going on in da NYC. (source asmzine.com; I couldn't link the pictures unfortunately but here:)

I dunno I think the B-Daman display is sorta more impressive and bigger than the Beyblade one...

LOAD, LOCK, AND LAUNCH!

B-DAMAN: THE GAME

Okay About time I discussed what B-Daman is and how the game works because the Press Release doesn't give you much of an idea on how the game is.

B-Daman is a game played by using spring loaded shooting robots. You have probably seen similar knockoffs of B-Daman. B-Daman originates in Japan (created and manufactured by TAKARA) and literally translated B-Daman means "Marble shooter."
Here is a picture of a basic B-Daman:

There are many games you can play using B-Daman, there are many playing fields made that are different games. There are many accessories

like the Funnel Magazine:

Iron Stabilizer...

and others. However the main game used in competitions is the DIRECT HIT BATTLE (DHB) In order to have a direct hit battle, your B-Daman needs the DHB Armor:

THe Red Arrows show you where the "Direct Hit" is. When this area is hit, the front og the nozzle of where the B-Daman shoots the marble will close off, thus ending the battle. the DHB Armor also has a Targeting screen you supposed to have your head behind while firing (it actually helps sometimes.)

You will also need to play in a B-Daman stadium shown here is a diagram of one:

First of all, the Black Circles represent a player's B-Daman Robot. The Gray line shows where its weakness is. The opposing player must shoot marbles at this target to disable their opponents shooting mechanism. In this game a Player may move his B-Daman anywhere in the RED ZONE a.k.a. the Shooting Area. The arrows represent the movement that you can move the B-Daman anywhere in the Shooting Area to dodge the incoming fire. The Green Rectangle in the back of each B-Daman is wher the Trigger for firing is. FInally the White Circel represents a firing marble. You keep playing until someone loses. Think of it like this:

Tennis is to Ping Pong as Dodgeball is to B-Daman

Yes so basically its TapleTop Dodgeball. Despite hoe the game looks, it is face paced and fun. It requires a lot of skill and a quick thumb (literally.)

Later on the Japanese creating company Takara (creators of Transformers and Beyblade) added an even more intesting element to the game; different marbles. The original marbles were just plastic but here are the newer ones that add even more strategy to the game:

The Marble on the left is called the DRIVE SHOT. The Blue part is merely regular plastic but the RED RING is a Griping Rubber that will increase a marble speed in the direction it is going.

This Marble has One Hemisphere Metal and One Hemisphere Red Gripping Rubber. This Marble is called the RANDOM SHOT because it will go randomly anywhere due to half of it being a gripping rubber. A great sneak attack strategy...but how will aiming be possible?

Finally there is the Full Metal Marble I believ called the HEAVY SHOT. No explanation needed.

There's an inside look at the Game of B-Daman!

B-DAMATIZED!

B-DAMAN: THE ANIMATION

To finish my introduction of B-Daman, I'll discuss the anime. The anime is done by d-rights (same company that produced Beyblade and several other animes.) It is currently in Japan, in its second season. Some story info:

TV TOME.com wrote:

From the same company that brought you Beyblade, comes Battle B-Daman!

The story takes place in the B-DaWorld, which is a world where spherical objects have special powers. Ever since ancient times, people in the B-DaWorld have been using B-Daman marble-shooters in sport and to resolve conflicts. The storyline revolves around the young boy, Yamato Delgato, who has been bestowed the most powerful B-Daman, Cobalt Blade. Yamato, who was raised by cats until he was five, has only dreamt of playing the official sport of the B-DaWorld, B-Daman.

Little does he know that all of that is about to change. Because Yamato was chosen to receive the legendary B-Daman, Cobalt Blade, only he has the skills needed to harness its power. Join Yamato and his friends on their journey as they learn the sport of B-Daman, the value of friendship, and have lots of fun along the way. And, perhaps even be able to save the B-DaWorld from the evil Shadow Alliance!

Production: Hasbro
Running Time: 52 Episodes x 30 Minutes

While in my stay in Japan, I was surprized at how intriguing the show actually was despites its chibi (Japanese for small) characters. As I Mentioned above, It premiers in 6 days. A few screenshots and pics:

NOTE
not to be sick or anything but doesn't that girl with the blue hair look a bit TOO relaxed in that one picture I posted and what is that white-ish liquid on her cheek? Anime hyper

I swear one of the FEW Human anime characters I've seen with no nose. HE HAS NO NOSE. heh

A CLIP OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE OF THE SHOW CAN BE FOUND HERE

Rumor has it Nelvana (not surprised) is dubbing this. Also Steven Jay Blum (http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/PersonDetail/personid-68290/) (voice of Spike from Bebop dub) will be doing some voicing for Battle B-Daman.

New Series (Premieres 4/2/05 @ 8am ET on ABC Family!) (0ne hour) & 4/23/05 @ 7:30am & 3pm on YTV)

And thus concludes my "Introduction to B-Daman." I was bored...so yeah.

I probably won't watch this they are gonna replace Grevolution Anime for a month with this were I live.

um...okay?
Where do you live anyway? And not watching it ain't gonna bring back Beyblade. I've watched it in Japan and its actually not a bad show. Give it a try. Wink

MAJOR UPDATE

http://www.hasbro.com/battlebdaman/

HASBRO HAS RELEASED AN OFFICIAL BATTLE B-DAMAN WEBSITE! PRODUCTS WILL BE RELEASED IN SUMMER! NOT MUCH INFO ON THES SITE YET BUT HAS OFFICIAL DUB OPENING SEQUENCE VIDEO!

The dub theme song I don't like as much as the Japanese one. In fact it sucks I think. HOWEVER the fist part of the US theme song sounds ALMOST like the Japanese theme song and I was getting excited saying "yay they stuck with the Japanese theme and just translated it!" but no....

YAMATO - main character, raised by cats till 5, has no visible nose, hero

GRAY - Yamato's friend, a Kai-like character, the regular Anime tough guy.

TSUBAME/TERRY - Yamato's friend, a hot babe (to me), um not much else I know. I like her Japanese name better.grr.
(pretty girl ::drools:Smile

BULL - Another of Yamato's friend - has two personalities, calm side, and a crazy side.

ENJYU - Bad guy. The episode I watched in Japan was about his history. He murdered his village using his B-Daman. he's crazy and evil. a bad ass.

SCREENSHOTS FROM US OPENING:

Yep YAMATO was DEFINATELY raised by cats...

Hmm conflict between friends?

Hmm cute and tough isn't she?

Bull's calm side....

..and Bull's Yami side...

The back of a B-Daman (Cobalt Saber 1 to be specific) the read part is the trigger that you press in and as you can see the back of the head has a hole where you place the marble in.

Yeah you can tell I've alreay posted this at other places. But yes here. I hope it helps.
