Who ever called them "Viz LLC" though? I've always just called them Viz, and I can continue to do so.

"Viz LLC" = Cool?

LLC simply means "Limited Liability Company".

How 'bout 'Viz MEC', for 'Media Editing and Censorship' (or 'manga' instead of 'media' if you prefer)? Should portray better their current attitude toward us manga fanz. Wink

VIZ MEDIA. WOW! That's the best name for a company. NOT!

The new Logo looks like something a 5th grader did.

They changed their name?

Huh. o_O In all honesty, it's really not that big of a change. They just added a word or two. People will still call them what they're known as. -shrugs-

What's funny though is on the banner on the Viz site it says "VizMedia.com" but... problem is there is already a vizmedia.com site and it's owned by someone else...

You mean with I"S?

Those edits were done under permission form the Japanese company. It is as much their "fault" as Viz's.

And yeah, the name change is a funny little detail. It's less of a "We're gonna get a new name." deal than it is a "Okay, we're in a merger . . . copyright changin' time!" deal.

This isn't really the need of any serious fanfare and speculation anyway. The only people who ever said "Viz LLC" in it's entirety take themselves way to seriously. I'll bet even the people in charge don't call it that.

Viz Press Report wrote:
The merger was a natural progression for VIZ, LLC and ShoPro Entertainment, Inc., who have successively collaborated on many hit properties including the wildly successful Inuyasha and MegaMan NT Warrior.

Megaman NT Warrior? Successful? Yeah, we all know how successful that was.

And just a word of advice: the discussions and arguements over Viz's edits in I"s and whose decision they were is in another thread that doesn't really have anything to do with this thread, so it might be a good idea to discuss it there before this thread turns into a really long battle thread.

Yeah...same here.

Changing their name from Viz to VizMedia isn't a big deal.
People are still just gonna call 'em Viz.

This thread is about Viz changing its name, not about the edits to the I's manga. Can people keep their ravings to the other thread? If so many people are really that upset about it, campaigning on a web forum does nothing. Real paper letters and word-of-mouth against buying the books are responses more likely to get noticed by the company.

On topic... I think the new logo looks better than Viz's old one. I like the warm red with the black, it's a lot more visually appealing. Viz used to have Communications tacked on to its name, so at least the Media moniker makes sense. The amusing thing is that Viz is ranked 7th in a Google search on the term "LLC". Guess a lot of places link back to Viz's home page with that term.

Couldn't agree more. I like the new logo as well. I've always liked dark colors and the red and black look great, a lot better than the orange and green.

Yeah but the media part is all thin and the "viz" and ".com" parts are bolded and.... okay I dunno.
