Any news if this will be (legally) streamed somewhere or do I have to buy the media?

Ultimately Abyss of Hyperspace has the feel of an original story written specifically for the movie, though I cannot confirm that this is actually the case.

I can confirm this, although there is a tie-in manga (with an English-language release from Seven Seas) that adapts and expands the movie's story.

Sentai tends to put up their movies on The Anime Network, so I would expect it to be there at some point.

Excellent review, as always! Also, just so you know, the seiyuu's name is Mikako Komatsu (not Tomatsu).

It's great that this has now made it over, I really enjoyed the series and the dub cast.

Those scores are too high, honestly this movie could not decide if it wanted to be a homage to old Ghibli movies or a hacker movie, it felt more like two unrelated episodes stitched together. The art and animation are fine, the music, pacing, characters, and action on the other hand were lacking so like the series I found it very meh. Also

>Chiaki doesn't do much

That's worthy of a con? I never cared for her enough to call her essential, but that's just me.
