Baccano! got only 16 episodes adapted from the first two novels

?
Baccano adapted 3 and a half novels, plus the 3 OVA episodes were original and later adapted into a novel.
The Flying Pussyfoot arc takes two novels, and the Find Dallas arc is half of the fourth novel (in which the other half got outright cut off the anime)

Anyway, I'm excited for Baccano getting an official English release. The novels are really good, and the content not in the anime is just as great, and sometimes better than what we got (though I still think Flying Pussyfoot is one of the stronger arcs Narita's done).

Why is "hyper-violent" content a negative?

Awkward cover design? what's wrong with it? Also Durarara!! is not longer, as of this point it has 17 novels where as Baccano has 21,and the Durarara!! Anime has 65 total episodes not 62.

Have wanted the Baccano! novels in English for years, thinking it would never happen. I bought this first volume on iBooks last week, though I haven't started it yet.

There's also a lot of extra content of several other Baccano novels in the anime, only briefly presented however, iirc.

She was referring to the logo. Which she stated that she felt didn't stand out enough against the cover.

I think she just forgot to include the three Durarara x2 OVAs in the episode count.

Baccano is one of my favorite anime series, as well as my favorite light novel series. I enjoyed reading it very much. Vino retains his on screen awesomeness even in the books.
While reading, I've found myself multiple times with my fist pumped in the air and a huge grin on my face.

Yes, I don't like the font choices either. The logo, as she says, blends into the cover. I also don't like the font for "Ryohgo Narita" since it just clashes with the cover aesthetic. Too plain. Like Gabriella said, probably not a problem for most people, but for me, the font choices hurt my enjoyment of an otherwise nice release. Meh.

Ignoring the cover, I'm really happy with the first volume. This was very well written with a good translation and I enjoyed it tremendously. The book fully reminded me of why Baccano is one of my top favorite anime series. I loved the storytelling of the anime, but turns out it's just as enjoyable without all the time skipping.

I know, I was like wtf, when I read that. Did Gabriella Ekens even do her research before writing this article? Anyone who saw the anime could tell the series was divided into 3 different years. I could understand the Grand Punk Railroad books being a little confusing, because they really are just one massive book divided in half, but the other two stories are vastly different. The story of the OAV's also adapts the 14th light novel and throws in a few easter eggs for some of the other events the anime could never really touch from the series. So really you had 5 books in total that were animated.

Absolutely loved the anime. I should get this at long last. Hope they fully print the series.

In Gabriella's defense, the anime's method for adapting the books does sound rather convoluted, from what I've read, with it taking bits and pieces from some books and condensing others.

Besides that minor fact error, I enjoyed her review enough that it gave me the final push I needed to order the book, marking my first light novel purchase ever.

Well I suppose that's true. The anime more or less just divides everything into dates, and depending on what year a scene takes place in, you know what book it's covering. The 1930's stuff is from Rolling Bootlegs, the 1931 train ride from hell is all material from The Grand Punk Railroad, which happens to cover novels 2 and 3 of the series and finally the 1932 stuff is from is from Drugs and Dominos, the 4th novel in the series. However do to Japans strong anti drug policy, just about all the references to drug use and addiction are removed from the adaptation of the 4th book. In fact one pretty major character is removed entirely from the anime, simply because he's a drug addict.

The OAV's are all over the place story wise, but like I said above mostly cover the story from the 14th light novel.

Which was released after the OAV's.

No, the OVA was adapted from Grand Punk Railroad Revisited, bonus novel from GPR drama CD in 2005.
