i just dont understand why would anyone makes a good mature anime that's guaranteed to fail and only be able to sell 500-700BDs? 1500 average at most (Joker Game, Rakugou, Concrete Revolutio, Gangsta, Space Dandy, Kaiba, etc), it's like the studio is flirting with death (bankruptcy).

Joker Game was based on a book and Gangsta was based on a manga. Presumably, they would have a built in audience. Shows like Space Dandy and Concrete Revolutio are the productions seen as risky by Japanese studios. Luckily, Bones is passionate about creating orinigal content. Otherwise different studios produced these anime. Manglobe went bankrupt but they only produced Gangsta.

For starters, not all good mature anime is determined to fail: Blood Blockade was the biggest hit BONES has had in a while. Psycho Pass was a huge hit as well and OPM averaged 9K and got a lot of merch and a sizable manga boost. Durarara's later seasons sold poorly, but the franchise overall is still beloved by the public and sells a lot of merch. Rakugo also sold badly, but the manga boost it got was huge.

Also, some studios like to indulge in passion projects every once in a while, and lord bless them for it, otherwise anime would be a dreadfully boring medium. Imagine that we never got Rakugo or ConRevo because they were doomed for commercial failure, what a sad world to live in that would be.
