Well it's about time I've been waiting forever for this announcement and it looks like spring 2017 is going to be a colossal one especially for Funimation. Very Happy

Surprised it took so so long to come out but at least fans now have a more concrete idea as to when it's being released.

Was expecting as much. If it was to be aired in 2016 they would've confirmed that way earlier.
Nice to see some confirmation though, at last! Think I'll go catch up with the manga now, I'm a bit behind.

Yes! Been waiting for this. In saying that, I wonder when the manga will end. The visual is gorgeous.

Here's a thought. Will FUNimation give this a simuldub and get it on Toonami ala Space Dandy?

I feel like the hype is dead. It's still a very popular series but the fanbase is all over the place after so much time

Wonder how much it'll adapt, given that visual.
I also wonder if I'm gonna want to watch it as it's airing and handle WIT's usual breakdown during the middle of the season or just wait for a Blu-Ray release and get it all pretty.

This. I'm sure if I read the manga I could still care, but it's been too long and I'm just totally burned out on the franchise. I just hope this doesn't mean Toonami will be running the dub 2565425554 more times in a row between now and then because misplaced hype.

Gotta say, this wait has absolutely crippled the show's hype. I don't know if it's going to be anywhere near as popular. In 2013 the show absolutely EXPLODED in both the west and Japan and the hype stayed alive for much of 2014 when Funimation released the English dub and showed it on Toonami.

But somewhere late in 2014... things just went quiet. Recap movies came and no one cared (Funimation didn't even pick them up), games were made but they all sucked, the Live action movies had some hype that was killed by the lukewarm response, then Junior High... oh God Junior High.

Attack on Titan cosplays used to flood convention hallways. Now I barely see them at all because they're greatly outnumbered by cosplayers from shows like SAO that have maintained their popularity, newer shows like One Punch Man and Kill la Kill, shows like Love Live that weren't even popular back when Attack on Titan was at the height of its popularity but have managed to gradually rise in popularity and of course people dressed in bad Joker Suicide Squad cosplays (A trend that I predict will likely die in about a year's time).

I'm not even joking about the Love Live part. Attack on Titan is exactly the sort of thing that the west typically likes whereas Love Live is the exact opposite. Yet with Attack on Titan's hype being so badly crippled and Love Live's hype on the rise it means that Love Live usually gets a much better showing at conventions. What's up with that?

I'm looking forward to it, but I can't help but wonder whether it's even possible for the show to bounce back to where it was before in popularity.
