No surprise there. I think the show was originally scheduled for split cour. I look forward to it for sure as I've been enjoying the current season.

Wait, it ended today? I thought the 12th episode didn't come out till next week. Is Funi a week behind?

Or is the episode 0 completely throwing me off?

Probably.

Anyways, yeah, we knew it'd be split from the beginning.

According to Abyssal Chronicles, it was the schedule on France's Anime Digital Network that had the split cour where we learned of it, but never officially stated.

More like it threw ANN off. The episode count on the official site and on FUNi's site are the correct ones.

Today was the 12th overall episode, numbered #011. Next week will be 13th overall, numbered #012. It didn't end today.

So there is one more episode next week. Odd that they have the 2nd season announcement with this episode when it's usually the final one.

It's listed both ways. For example, the official Tokyo MX site lists the latest episode as the 12th episode, as do the Japanese television
listings.

Neat. Hopefully the show can stop playing it so slow/cautious and get into a decent plot. This season's certainly looked good but it could really use some interesting antagonists and character development of some sort.

Thanks for that clarification. The preview was a bit confusing

Preeetty sure there's one more episode left of this cour...

Edit; Disregard that. Wording threw me off so I thought it referred to the show and not the episode ending...

The OFFICIAL website, ufotable's twitter, FB page, ect ect...In other words, the people that actually MAKE the anime, and the EPISODES THEMSELVES, list this week's episode as 11. ANN should list it as such as well.

There's no real argument to call this episode 12. Correct the title and the episode count. Episode 00 was a separate entity that doesn't even need to be watched TBH. It's "bonus content".

But I have to wonder how this is even news? I'm not questioning ANN in reporting it...I'm questioning why ufotable felt the need to announce it....again. We've known for MONTHS that it would be split into two seasons. They mentioned it months ago.

Ufotable never said there is going to be 2 season, Only a french site that leaked that and Japanese fans didn't know at all.

jpn fans follow anime news sites so I doubt they somehow didn't know the french site revealed the episode count.

Honestly good luck ufoTABLE with the schedule Bandai and Aniplex have put you under. They've got to do another 12 episodes for this, a few movies for Fate, a Touken Ranbu thing and you know they're going to be getting tapped for the new God Eater game and whatever the next Tales one is soon enough so you can consider that 5 ongoing projects for a studio that struggled just to handle the turnover from Fate to God Eater. If they try to do any of these back to back and in any less than over the course of 3 years with very careful planning I expect much the same hiccups to arise that happened with God Eater if not worse.

Seriously though both these production companies are really overburdening the industries smaller studios right now and it shows in the drops in quality all around, production bottlenecks and delays and people getting sick and having to go on hiatus.
