Would be nice to know if it still passed Madoka Magica and K-On when adjusted for inflation, but still seems like a huge success either way

That's nice and all but I'm pretty upset how they handled the whole movie. I'm not talking about the direction/content but rather I'm talking about how this could have been much higher had they not played it far too safe. I don't know how everything works here but making such milestones, they could have put a little bit more effort into addressing the initial demand. Everything here screams wasted opportunity.
