I got through three episodes of this before it became the victim of a time crunch. I found it to work a lot better than the typical reverse-harem dreck in what I watched, and I entirely agree that Kohana deserves the credit for that. Probably will finish it out at some point.

I also found Magic-kyun to be a surprisingly watchable reverse harem. Partly because Kohana has personality and development but also because the boys have relationships with each other, rather than having their lives revolve around the MC.

That said, I haven't watched the last episode yet. The plot twist at the end of episode 11 was just so cringy I lost most of my motivation to finish.

If there were an award for the sparkliest anime of Fall 2016, Magic-kyun! Renaissance would be one of the top contenders.

A contender, it's true, but the clear winner would be Nanbaka, whose entire cast never stops sparkling (save for one brief interlude in episode 9). The Renaissance boys mostly save it for their art. It definitely has the busiest end card I've ever seen. I can barely find the characters among all the Technicolor flowers and flourishes. Smile

I kinda liked this one, although the dramatics toward the end didn't do it any favors. The hedgehog was cute. But I'd still recommend Kamigami no Asobi instead to anyone as an intro to the sport.

I like a halfway decent reverse-harem but they're so rare. This was a nice little surprise last season for me along with Watashi ga Motete.

I'll x2 on Kamigami no Asobi, that was another fun one.

I'm still surprised by this show. Granted, it's not as good as Kamigami no Asobi, but it was still an entertaining watch. The fact that Kohana actually gets some character development was a shock to me. The show also surprised me with the fact that it didn't go the direction I thought it would. I just assumed that it would have ended with the Festival and then Teika and Kohana becoming the tops of their class. The drama at the end was kind of meh, but I felt that it could have been worse. I'm definitely buying this once it gets released in the US.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I thought a highlight of the show was Kohana's roommate/friend Juri. She was hilarious and actually a character of her own as opposed to being sort of there for the heroine.
