Yeah I liked Ange Vierge, and I thought it was the best harem of it's perspective season. Yes it has tons of pointless characters (which I just ignore most of the time) but the main cast gets enough development that it makes this simple adventure worth watching. I actually liked how predictable the general flow of the story was but I can't really pinpoint why I liked it so much. That being said I wouldn't recommend Ange Vierge as it seems to appeal to a very narrow audience and there's already dozens of shows that I would recommend instead.

I had no idea what to expect when I started watching this series, needless to say Ep 1 left me pretty much speechless. We had an 'end of the world' plot scenario and yet the characters managed to spend almost the entirety of the episode bathing. Now while I do appreciate their dedication to cleanliness, it did leave me scratching my head just a little bit.

I thought it might be fair to assume this was 'bait and switch' sort of stuff or maybe a bit of misdirection like what Saekano did with its Episode 0. Start out with a slightly fan service orientated first episode and then tone it down for the rest of the series. But yeah that definitely didn't happen, it was like the entirety of the show was about selling us on the concept of taking a bath.

To be fair though it was quite funny how hero and villain alike were more interested in lounging around the tub than doing pretty much anything else. However I do vaguely remember the show featuring some action, slight character growth/friendship building (possibly? Felt a bit cheap tbh) and a fair amount of Yuri harem antics. We also had boss battles which included the always inspiring 'friendship will save the day' ploy. So essentially the moral of the story was take lots of communal baths to build strong friendships and you can overcome any adversity.

The characters themselves are serviceable enough if a little uninspiring, but I suspect they existed purely as eye candy rather than for meaningful plot progression. So I think I'd be completely justified in saying that by the end of the series I couldn't care less about any of them. Like the plot they were essentially paper thin.

I might have called this a more nudity filled Strike Witches, but that would be unfair to the girls of the 501st. I don't dislike Ange Vierge or regret watching it, the series was entertaining enough and did most things competently. Its failing however was being more interested in ticking the usual boxes rather than exploiting its interesting sounding premise. Could have been more but didn't bother trying, is what I'll remember most about Ange Vierge

I rather enjoyed Ange Vierge, though I'd wouldn't call it good. But it was compotent, with a "this really shouldn't be so hard but so many anime keep fudging it up" type of structure that did exactly enough to give its characters a reason to be fighting each other & care about the outcome, without feeling like it was several episodes too long or short. I'm also a sucker for all girl battle anime & in your face censorship (I find it funny that people care they can't see a Japanese virgin's crude approximation for tits), so there was that, too. Hardly good, but it was hardly a good year for these shows - though there were a lot of them.

This show was so mindnumbingly boring that I dropped it less than five minutes into the first episode.

Qualidea Code might've fallen apart near the end, but it was infinitely more engaging.

I liked this series.

watching the juniors grow a lot in order to fight against their senior was good.

There was also the special training lessons we would see mot episode which were good for a laugh.

I actually quite liked Ange Vierge, I liked the hotpot of themes/characters and I felt that the bathing was very tongue in cheek. There are complaints in review that there is so much bathing, but also that there is so much censorship fog and the like that it was not sexy, and I think that it is like complaining about two different things without seeing that it was meant to contradict itself. Sure there is some level of sexy in just the idea of character bathing, but I don't think the show was trying to be all showing bits, it was meant to be a joke with how they were in the bath so much, Earth Defence Club Love can apparently get away with it because they are dudes, but apparently Ange Vierge cannot.

The best characters in the show were the sisters because they were so dang hammy, you could even see it in the episode they attack which happens to be in the bath. I think it is really they were the way you were meant to watch it, like it was one big joke of itself. But also that it seemed to take itself seriously enough to also have some fun with these characters that it was saying that it was okay to like these sort of cliché characters. Even predictable parts of stories were kind of comforting.

Also a note that Aoi Yuuki did some great acting as Ramiel. I do think you cannot recommend it to everyone, it has does have a sort specific audience, but I don't think that made it bad, and it was enjoyable to us that feel like the target market.

What I was most stumped by was that the bluray releases were just as censored as the broadcast material. What?

I just didn't like that the producers had all the girls in the bath so much. i mean im fine with some fan service but there is a limit. I was about to drop the series after the first two episodes but started to enjoy it after the third episode. however it wasnt enough to make my "buy list"
