Kind of expected. Now we just wait for the others - and Akito the Exiled - and Re:Zero - and a whole bunch of other things that thankfully no longer include the Steins;Gate movie.

I feel like Sentia might have the psychical right to Re Zero, would explain why there was no announcement for a release for so long.

I'm glad that I held off on buying the Discotek release of season 1, although I feel bad for the ones who bought it (not expecting FUNI to release it with their dub later on).

Crunchyroll has the rights since TV Tokyo are the publisher and they're Investors in Crunchyroll plus the Crunchyroll CEO said in a forum post they have more home video announcements later this year

Well, CR can just have the Stream rights and Sentia can own the physical distribution rights. It's happened before and Sentia seems to have a deal with production company of Re: Zero and Konosuba which could explain the "Silence" on the physical release of both series if Sentia owns the distribution rights.

Now I can finally snatch up both seasons for my collection! Come my birthday, Free!, you shall be mine at long last.

By the way, for anyone who purchased one of the special editions of season 2, can you give your two cents on whether they're worth the higher price tag or should I stick with the regular edition when I buy the series?

My Eternal Summer Premium Editon came with a cute mini towel of the main five boys and their spirit animal, an artbook of published promotional art, solo art cards of main five, group pics of Iwatobi and Samezuka team (I accidently lost Rin while trying to get Vic's autograph XP) stickers of both swim teams logo, and all in a neat cardboard box that has the BD/DVD with Japanese cover art inside. Limited edition only has the glosssy box. PE, LE and standard all have the OVA and dub commentaries so unless you like stuff, keep your copy.
