She also drew Victor live in ConComics, when they came to Mexico in early May. This one she did in a little under an hour and it was very cool to watch her doing it :3

Looking at the video, I can see how that took hours but...how can that pace be practical when helping to make the series itself?

She did the initial character designs, story ideas and the accompanying manga. She doesn't do art for the actual anime itself. (Kubos art is beautiful and can make any guy look like a 10/10 though so any art she does for the series sells out fast)

All right then. She creates the basis on which other people with draw? (I was wondering about the huge amounts of corrections big and small throughout the process, as if she was deciding how he'd look as she was drawing.)

she wrote the original unfinished "manga" that YoI was based off of. (It was basically just an outline for the anime that Sayo, the director, asked her to make) She's usually credited as the writer for Yuri on Ice. Though Sayo obviously changed (and added) a lot as it's her show. But yes, the character designs were based off of her original outline.

Thanks. Did she draw the manga too?

Mr. Kubo-san's drawing of Phichit looks marvelous! Smile Emil and Seung also look impressive.

Are you talking about the bonus manga that came with the blu rays? Because she did write and draw that along with theoutline for the anime. There is no other manga as yoi is an anime original. (Though I'd kill for a yoi manga by kubo)

Sorry for the ambiguous question; I was tasked with something and came back without realizing my statement was incomplete.

What I meant was that the work she did for the manga, I take it didn't need hours for each drawing, or at least the few hours it took for this portrait. I mean, manga artists are expected to draw up to 20 pages of material every week; I can't imagine it getting done on time unless she can work at a faster pace when needed.

Well, I mean, I'm not privy to how long it took her to draw it, but yeah I'm pretty sure she does portraits with far more care than her manga. She does have a couple ongoing manga after all.
