Wonder if they gonna start with the OVA prequel or not. I certainly hope so. Ever since the first previews of this anime I've been excited. Cant wait to have a 24/27 episode journey of this beauty.

The voice actors sound so familiar but I can’t place them. I’m thinking Elias is Bill Jenkins and Chise is Colleen Clinkenbeard?

IDK about Elias but Chise sounded more like Jill Harris to me

Not sold on that preview. The acting is bland and Elias especially doesn't sound deep enough.

But!!! It sounds like these lines were recorded for the trailer. That or the dub is already recording for episodes that won't be out in the sub for two weeks.

Hopefully the acting for episode 1 is much better.

Man, I would have put money on J Michael Tatum voicing Elias. That's who I "cast" in my head when I read the manga, anyway.

By the sounds of it, FUNimation may not be dubbing this themselves. These actors don't sound like anyone I recognize. Is Chise being played by a child actor? That's what it sounds like to me! Like Morry said, though, the acting sounds kinda stiff in this trailer (aside from Chise's outburst), but it IS just a trailer; the actual dub will probably sound a bit better. That said, I actually really like the voices and I can't wait to hear more.

Give me that cast list, FUNi. Stop teasing us! Smile

Actually, I'd say even Chise's outburst sounded a bit stiff. But again, it may just have been a rushed recording for the trailer and the actual episode will be closer to the Japanese performance's level. The trailer performance sounds more like "you shoved me" rather than "you insulted my entire existence".

These don't sound like any Funi regulars or any LA regulars either. The ADR director may cast hired new blood to distinguish this series' main cast.

They'll give us a cast list just before the first episode hits. Expect one on the 29th, then.

As for the actors, that is definitely not a child actor, and I highly doubt they would outsource it (as that seems to be Black Clover's fate). It could be Jill Harris; I was kind of thinking Jad Saxton after a bit, but it sounds just a bit more grating. I actually really like the voices though: Elias doesn't sound as deep but he has a very caring nature to his voice that I think will help make him more likable (now that I think about it, maybe he's played by Chris Guererro - or am I thinking too much about Overlord?); Chise, meanwhile, sounds exactly how I would imagine she'd sound.

Do people think Black Clover is getting outsoured? Funi annoucned that dub a few months ago when Crunchyroll announced they'd be simulcasting it, so I don't see why Funi would do it elsewhere. They only times since the partnership with CR that they outsource is for reoccurring roles or stuff that CR was already doing before the partnership with Funi.

I doubt that Funi would hype up such a big show and not be doing it inhouse.

It's the only show this season that hasn't had a release date announced. This either means it's going to premiere on Toonami (similar to Dimension W) or it's going to be outsourced (similar to Mob Psycho 100).

well I sure hope it's a Dimension W situation, the LA dubs of Shounen are never as good as Funi's stuff. Personally I don't want every female character voiced by one of four or five women.

In terms of a dub One Piece, Fairy Tail, MHA, Soul Eater and more are all much better than Naruto and Bleach in terms of quality.

I wouldn't say "much better" but you're right to a degree.

You're right much better was a little extreme but I think the funi Shounen dubs are on a higher level than those from LA. They make a point to avoid main character VA's playing multiple roles something that LA does all the time and usuallyt o a shows detriment (see Bleach where almost every female is played by Wendee Lee, Stephanie Sheh or Kate Higgins.)

I hope it was not the actual dub but just some lines recorded for the trailer, because it was kinda bad. It was like hearing an audiobook.

That's because there are less people to choose from in LA. Studiopolis in particular tends to rely more in veteran actors too. I'll grant you that Bleach suffer a lot from multicasting, Naruto fare better because it's union and it can afford some non-anime VA like Fred Tatasciore, Michael Yurchak and Chris Edgerly to add some variety to the cast.
