Took a while, but happy to see a review of this book here Smile This is one of my favorite ongoing series- sometimes it's great to read a simple premise done well. I heavily recommend this one; it's a rare "video game -esque fantasy world" series without the gross LN or anime tropes, and it does a lot of cool and interesting stuff. I particularly like the side characters, though that will be expanded more in volumes 2 and 3.

Not enough comments here...

I was wary when I started this, given the oversaturated genre, but it's a great series. The world and characters are just a lot of fun.

I think it's likely (or maybe it's just hope) this will get an anime in the future. I think this could transition into an anime very nicely if done right, more so than the average LN.

Definitely hoping Seven Seas picks this up for physical, was a great first book! Rather annoyed that the 3rd book got split into a two-parter, now just gotta wait for the 4th to finish releasing so I can read it in full.

Well, with the physical books in Japan, they need to keep the page totals < 400 or so usually, so I think Hobby Japan decided to split up the story and add some filler extra stories rather than just have 1 extra large volume. Since it's based on a web novel having the extra LN exclusive bits is an important selling point.

Also, those seemingly "extra" stories in volume 3 are some of the best parts in my opinion!

Where to start. There's too many problem with this novel.
- The superior job is game breaker.
The superior job class doesn't make any sense. They are way to powerful and imbalances with other superior class. KoB for example, that 2 millions all stats build theories is stupid and impossible. With the rarity of the superior job (only 1 master or tien can get them), you will find tons of players rage quitting. Character stats also doesn't makessense, you wont experience faster timeflow from overwhelming AGI, what happen is your brain and cognitive function won't be in sync and you'll puke or have a seizure in real life. not to mention unless its MC with stupid and impossible to pull off plan, you cannot win from them.

- game economics is death
Until vol 13, I haven't seen any material grinding, or crafting or people & sell mats for crafting. Good gear only drops from ubm or subm, with 100% drop chance the stuffs you need. Which again impossible to solo unless you are the MC or over power superior job. Drop item not tradeable, so small time or regular players won't be able to farm gear, because most of ubm already hunted by superior job.

- Where are the human involvement?
Where's the GM, moderator, etc? Have you seen how messed up the game is? Control AI that supposedly neutral have an emotion? It's a wonder why the AI haven't kill or delete every player in game. control ai supposed to act as a god and not taking side.

- What kind of game is this?
Is it subscription based game? Free to play (pay to win) game? Buy to play game? How did the company make profit from this game? Is it from selling merchandise? Subscription fee? Micro transaction?

- MC is the most annoying player
Yeah. You heard that right. Ray is one of the most annoying MC that I've ever seen (There's a lot more worst one out there). Is he wanna be top player, or casual player? You won't reach the lp level of top player by only playing at weekend. And you shouldn't enter big event with half-assed Character build and "because it leave a bad taste in my mouth" reason. You'll only be a dead weight for the team. It's the same as person who can't swim trying to help drowning people.

This is my opinion as a mmo and rpg gamer. This LN show that the author never played any mmo game at all. Even the physics in game is all wrong, speed perception is all wrong. A lightning strike at 300kmh speed? Wow, that is the slowest lightning I've ever seen, I can even avoid it my self without an avatar body.
The author also frequently insert a flashback story in the middle of battle, which most of them are stupid and annoying. Changing the tide of battle in the final moment with impossible move to pull both the enemy and the ally.
What I mentioned above is just a small fraction of problem inside Infinite Dendrogram, both the novel and the world building story.

In the end to much freedom will only lead to chaos. Please At least play a decent mmo games like wow, guild wars, or FF xiv if the author doesn't like mmo that made by western company.

If you actually read the novel, you'll know that there is a reason why the job system is the way that it is.

You haven't actually read the novel then. We hear more than once about Masters crafting gear and selling it.

Special rewards are explicitly said to be super rare in game, so it's dumb to say that's the only good gear around, when it actually isn't. There's literally a dungeon in Altar that drops quality gear, which is why half the players are still in that country.

Again, read the novel.

There's a small fee. As for profit, again, read the novel. There's a reason why the game is not really geared toward making money.
