This is hardly a surprise, but it is good to have configuration of a dub. I actually liked Sword Oratoria more than the first Danmachi season.

You'd be one of the few. Apparently the mass overload of Lefiya turned a lot of people off.

Lackluster production values and changes to the story was also big factors to the hate. Lefiya was only part of the issue.

Well, okay then.

I wonder when we'll get confirmation for a Made in Abyss dub.

I would definitely check it out if it does get a dub I've heard good things. But with Sentai who knows there seems to be no rhyme or reason on what they choose dub.

They are getting better at that, though, starting with the seven anime they announced as going to be dubbed, all of which were really popular. I'm just glad Anime Strike shows are even getting dubbed.

Unless the licensor does not allow it for some reason, Sentai is dubbing MiA because it is a fairly popular and great show that should net Sentai a lot of money.

No source, just common sense. If I were to bet on one show from their 2017 licenses that Sentai is dubbing, it would Made in Abyss. Why? because it is popular and loved by many fans. Not dubbing it would be nuts.

I would love to agree with you but then I remember OreGairu, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, To Love Ru, and many other fairly popular shows that don't have dubs. All I'm saying is with Sentai it's best not to get your hopes up.

I never got the impression that the shows you cite were ever that popular and beloved by fans. I see Made in Abyss at the level of popularity of Food Wars, Dammachi and GATE, which received dubs from Sentai. If the niche-ish Flip Flappers is getting dubbed, the significantly more popular Made in Abyss should get one as well.

Sentai has made mistakes in choosing what to dub in the past, but it has been mostly by dubbing shows that had little demand for one, like Phi Brain and Medaka Box. All the Sentai stuff that has been very popular has received dubs. And if you want to cite Shirobako, in one ANN Cast Justin Sevakis said that the show was not popular outside the hard core fan base.

I honestly don't know how to gauge popularity of a show I just use MAL since it is the only site I know of with a comprehensive list of anime and rating based on community. And using that all three of the shows I mentioned are more popular then made in abyss. Obviously this does not make it fact but unless you have streaming statistics or a better site this is all I have. Also I feel like I'm in an argument but were not on opposing sides as we both want it to be dubbed (in fact I wish they would dub everything like Funi). I'm just sick of being disappointed by Sentai so I no longer hold any expectations when it comes to them.

I know that we are on the same side. I am trying to argue that Sentai has learned to better judge what to dub. They are no longer that random with dubbing.

changes? what changes? cause despite some minor differences, this series is pretty faithful to its light novel version. especially concerning lefiya. i mean kuroko shirai clone much? its why i wasn't too fond of how UQ Holder was doing to karin's character.

at least they didn't allow too much of loki since she DEFINITELY have kuroko's perversions to a tee if nothing else.

Punchline was pretty popular, and that didn't get dubbed. Same goes for Shirobako and the Higurashi sequels.
