What about the big Netflix reboot? Doesn’t this seem...ancillary?

I was thinking the same, it would be like to have an anime about Jabu, Geki and the others, wouldn't it? Or a Soul Eater not kind of story?

The Netflix reboot will be released in 2019 if I remember well, I just hope they don"t screw up with a 3D CGI version.

Saintia Sho is like The Lost Canvas in that it's a very popular & successful spin-off of Saint Seiya, so much so that it's being deemed worth adapting into anime. I don't know why people seem to be downplaying this, and only focusing on the Netflix series, especially since the two productions are obviously aiming at different overall markets.

The Netflix CG reboot series is going to be aiming at a "mainstream" & worldwide audience first & foremost, hence why it's a Japan/American co-production. The Saintia Sho anime, in comparison, is going to be aimed at fans of the original spin-off manga, & existing Seiya fans in general, & is meant to help promote the manga, hence why only Toei is producing it. Sure, Sho will more than likely get simulcasted, and there will obviously be some people who will be interested in both, but that doesn't mean that it's aiming at the same overall market as Netflix's series. This is a case where both anime can conceivably co-exist.

As for the visual itself, it's really pushing just how much it's aiming to imitate Shingo Araki's iconic take on Kurumada's original designs, even though the manga was drawn by someone else. Wonder when we'll get word on who exactly is working on this anime, though.

The problem there is that most of us would prefer an adaptation of what we hoped Next Dimension would be rather than what it is.
Also, I'm sorry Kurumada or Toei/Bandai, but the only way you're going to get me curious about a new Saint Seiya series again, is if it doesn't feature the Gold Saints AT ALL! Christ, even the Gundam UC timeline managed to do several stories without Char. Will you finally let go of that overused security net?

The manga is set immediately after the main storyline's Sanctuary arc after the defeat of Gemini Saga from Masami Kurumada's original Saint Seiya manga, but before the Posieidon arc. However, whereas the original manga followed a boy named Seiya and other Saints who fight to protect the goddess Athena, the new series follows a female "Saintia" named Shō who fights evil deities to protect Athena.

all sites keep on suing this and this is a big lie; saintia sho is a parallel story that keeps on fixing the plotholes and explains why seemingly dumb things happen and why they are not dumb; it bvery nicely fixes the saint seiya mythology besides being pretty good for a shounen-shujo hybrid.

Just curious, what plotholes exactly?

But it's not a "lie". Yes, as people love to keep pointing out, Saintia Sho technically starts earlier, but the main focus of the story takes place between the Sanctuary & Poseidon Chapters of the original Saint Seiya manga. It doesn't matter if it's a "parallel story" that helps explain or fix plot holes, because it still (primarily) takes place after the Sanctuary Chapter; no one can say that it doesn't, because it's true. I don't get why people make such a big deal about this, anyway; it's nitpicking to a ridiculous degree.
