With that kinda news, I think it’s safe to say... THANK YOU FOR WAKING ME UP!
Or “Arigatou Gozaiiiiiiii~MASU!!” if you’ve watched the other version.

Glad that the original seiyuu cast are reprising their iconic roles and not being recasted. I hope that the 2 OVAs will be offered separate down the line by Funi. Assuming of course they have the priority to license it.

^ THIS! So much this! <3

This is my first day of vacation (10 days off of work!), and this is really setting the tone for a great time off. Awesome news, I can't wait for this!

Yeah, even though they won't sound exactly the same as before, which is to be expected since it's been over 25 years. Yusuke and Kurama will have much deeper voices than before. Kuwabara and Hiei won't change much.

But how about the other characters, like Botan, Keiko, Yukina and the others (if they appear at all)?

Also great news that the "Bonds of Fire" movie (released by CPM as "Poltergeist Report") is getting a BD remaster! People have always hoped Funimation would eventually redub it. It must be a weird issue where just that movie is owned by a different licensor? Like Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer?

I would love nothing more than for Funi to dub both of these.

Why would Kurama have a deeper voice? It's the same actress who voiced Shinji. She hasn't changed much from NGE to Rebuilds.

What a waste. That manga ending was so terrible the anime didn't even bother to adapt it, same with the starting chapters.

Why bother?

I'd much rather they go the Dragon Ball route and do a movie that provides a way forward like Battle of Gods did than trying to adapt the really terrible and half-assed finale of the manga.

Togashi who was already bored and burnt-out with the series mid-way through the Sensui arc (hence the total out of nowhere asspull of spoiler[Yusuke being a demon all along]) and he just kept on getting worse with the 3 Demon Kings arc where he wasted interesting setup after interesting setup and just gave us Dark Tournament 2: DBZ-lite edition which was so lazy and rushed in the manga that we don't even get to see most of it including the conclusion. The anime staff had to make lemonade out of the lemons that Togashi gave them which did make the anime the superior version. Perhaps they can do it again but Pierrot, now home of endless Naruto fillers and butchered Tokyo Ghoul adaptations is a very different place than it was in the 90s.

Yeah, would love to hear the dub cast back in their roles one more time.

The first part will include the "Spirit Detective" arc (episodes 1-26), as well as both movies, and will ship on July 27. The set will be the first Blu-ray Disc release for the second movie.

Also for the first movie since the previous Blu-ray releases had that and Eizou Hakusho on bonus DVDs which is why FUNi's release here has been DVD-only this whole time.
