*Sticks head in doorway*

...I will be playing this.

And speaking of vampires, someone really needs to localize the Diabolik Lovers games for the Vita. JUST SAYING. I know, completely unrelated to this article, but goodness sake *cries in corner* I just... I just want pretty vampire boys.

At least this game will hold me over some. I like that it'll have voices. I've played another smartphone visual novel-type game with cute vampire boys, but it didn't have voice acting. Oh man, next spring, though... such a long wait... I hope I'll remember it by then.

I go to comment, and you've said everything I wanted to say. As much as I liked the anime, the anime adaptation of Dialovers made it available to too broad an audience, rather than the niche one it was meant for. (Although I might not have been a fan if it wasn't for the anime... who can say)

I'm not into mobile otome adpatations since I have a PS Vita too, but I will try it out. I just hope supporting it translates to perceived interest in a possible Dialovers adaptation. In the meantime, I'm playing Idolish7. Please Aksys games!

So I've been curious about this for awhile. Let me ask my question in the form of an old-fashion SAT analogy.

bishounen : ikemen :: bishoujo : _______ ?

In other words, what is the difference between a bishounen and ikemen, and what word would you use for a female equivalent of ikemen similar to how a bishoujo is a female equivalent of bishounen?

The usage of "bishounen" in English speaking anime fandom is kind of a western anime fandom construct (much like "shounen ai" or a bunch of other expressions). Anime fandom tends to use it to describe any pretty or hot guy but it's not really what it means. It basically means a boy who is sort of classically pretty. It's more of a concept that something regularly used in real life in contexts other than "oh look, a real-life bishounen!" when seeing a really really pretty teenage boy, or say, "Mori Ranmaru was said to be a bishounen" or "Okita Souji is often depicted as a bishounen but he actually wasn't very pretty" etc.

"Ikemen" is the word that is regularly used in real life, and it basically means "hot guy", regardless of what kind of hot he is - pretty or cool or whatever. (There are several subtypes to describe that.) Also it's used regardless of age from older teens up.

"Bishoujo" as used to refer to pretty girls and women is also a sort of English speaking anime fandom thing, normally "bishoujo" isn't used all that much aside of the anime/game genre. It just means a pretty young girl. The word usually used is "bijin" which has a wider range and can be used for adults without sounding creepy.
