If I might offer a criticism that has NOTHING to do with this film --

It would be nice if they (Fathom Events and GKids) could get the screening times nailed down AT LEAST a month prior to the actual screenings and IF these things were advertised better than 3 days prior to the actual screening.

This is the second or third notice about this film but I will report that the day I saw the film at the Film Festival of Columbus (August 10th) there was STILL NO SCREENING listed for that film on August 21st or August 22nd or I probably would have gone on one of those two dates. It would have been more convenient for me. The screening theaters on the later dates are literally around the block from me. I don't like to go to the local art theater unless I want to be in that area or it's my last chance. Like a lot of people, I like to save on my time and car gas!

I do check local theater websites and even Fathom's screening list but a lot of times the films are NOT listed and there's no indication of any local screening times.

The Perfect Blue screenings were announced on ANN but they weren't even up on the Fathom's website that day and there was no listing for the film, period. I figured the screen dates and times would be up within a week but honestly they should have been on the website the day the announcement was made.

I know sometimes that's unfortunately not possible to put up what hasn't been scheduled/negotiated through and they have limited budgets.

More than once or twice, however, I've literally found out about films showing in my area within the last day or two before they actually screened those films.

I'm lucky -- I'm in a top 15 screening market and the support for local screenings of art films is decent enough that I don't have to worry about driving hours and hours from home to see a film if I'm interested in it. I've bumped into people who HAVE had to drive hours to see films they're interested in where the theater I was watching a film in was the closest one within a state to their home!

Huh, I didn't realize that Senpai having such a drastically different voice than Watashi from TTG would have such an effect on me. All throughout that trailer I was just going in my head, "Wait, that's not what Watashi sounds like."

I guess it probably depends on the theater(and I got them through atom, rather than Fandango, if that matters), but I purchased my tickets for the film on July 4th... which is more than a month and a half prior to the showing... and I saw several announcements by GKIDS on Facebook about this film prior to that as well. If you're not following them on Facebook, I do highly recommend it. That's the quickest way to find out anything about their theatrical releases, probably even more so than hacking an RSS feed to their own site.
