Starting the thread again... this time without the victim blaming.

Wish people could find something more constructive to do with their time than threatening idols, it's terrible that these poor girls have to worry about their safety like that.

It's that time of the year again. Some overtly rabid fan goes off the rails for some reason and threatens an idol or an idol group. It's about time to get some security for idols they aren't safe anywhere even amongst other idols.

Well, at least the culprit had the decency to warn them. Here in the US, mass murderers prefer to suddenly go to some random event and shoot a bunch of people for the hell of it.

Black comedy aside... we really need a better way to deal with these social-media death threats. It's so easy for some internet troll to send one out, and there's no way for us to know if the threat is genuine, so it causes a disproportionate disruption. The Kyoani fire is probably a big part of why they're taking this one seriously, but both threats and actual attacks on idols and other anime-celebs have happened many times before. Threatening to do a terror attack is a form of terrorism in and of itself, and the internet is unfortunately a great platform for that.
