Aniplex and Viz really need to figure something out for streaming Toonami exclusive dubs outside the US faster than waiting for Adult Swim's rights to expire, and then streaming US/CA/UK all at once. It's obviously possible given AnimeLab gets Toonami dubs much quicker, and Toonami has stated many times that they hold no rights outside the US.

Anyways, hope SAO Alicization and Demon Slayer will follow to stream soon.

streaming the dub will make your Blu-ray loose value?

I paid over 120$ for it, to have it on streaming for what, part of some 4.99 a month streaming service, just removes all value.

I thought your first comment was just a joke but I guess not.

Separate business and audience. Most anime will eventually make it to digital streaming. Those that collect physical media will still buy physical regardless.
I mean there's rare expensive video games where the physical edition is worth a lot of money even though you can get it digital for cheap. Having it digital doesn't make the physical release lose value.

I have to respectfully disagree, namely for one reason: the dubbed episodes won't stream forever. Eventually, the rights will be rescinded - and given Aniplex's track record of removing licenses from Funimation, it will happen eventually - but you'll still have your Blu-Ray set. You can watch it basically forever (well, as long as you take care of your disks, I mean) because you've invested in collecting the physical set. To me, that doesn't devalue anything. If anything, you made sure that you can enjoy it for a long, long time yet while people that rely purely on streams don't have that option.

Exactly. I've always seen it as very valuable to buy a copy of what I liked for myself so that I can be assured that it will be available if and when I decide I want to watch it again. You're always on a clock when it comes to streaming. A rights holder might decide not to renew, or they might decide to switch it over to a service you don't have. My copy of Sekirei wasn't less valuable just because I bought it while the show was streaming on Funimation. If anything, it gained value when eventually Aniplex decided not to renew the license and do nothing with it.

There are lots of people who need dubs to watch anime. Demanding that Aniplex never make their shows accessible for others out of some badge of honor for a material good is fandom gatekeeping.
