I'm still steamed that this is getting a home video release and a dub. What a dumpster fire of a show it was.

The first part was so good, the second part was a little bit disappointing imo

"A little disappointing?" No, I'd choose the "dumpster fire" characterization myself.

I fail to see how this negatively affects you. I agree that Babylon is a bad anime, but I will simply choose not consume this product.

As someone who actually liked Babylon (shocking, I know), I might consider getting this sometime in the future

That makes sense then, I dropped it after the first episode, yet people kept saying it was really good. Then I suddenly find people saying it's really bad, and start to become a bit confused.

If you've seen Kado, it's the exact same case. Starts out good, if a bit wonky, and then it takes a sharp left turn into wtf-ville, gets increasingly stupid, and ends up being a complete mess that wastes all the potential it had at the start.

Me, I wasn't as disappointed in this show as I was in Kado which I thought had some really great ideas that it handled really well until the halfway twist. Babylon also had some nice ideas but the way it treated them was really shaky from the start... still, there was some potential there which it cheerfully threw into the trash for... for whatever reason.

One good thing that came out of it, though, is that it made me remember Nozaki Mado's name, and made me remember not to watch/read anything he touches.

Sure, but it sucks to see localization resources go towards this project when they could likely be used for better series.

The anime's only intrinsic flaw is one episode near the end where they clearly had hit a schedule problem.

Otherwise it's a well directed adaptation of a novel series that had 2 well-loved volumes, followed by a 3rd volume, that according to the reviews on various book review sites, was broadly reviled spoiler[mostly due to the sudden global scale of the problem and the changing of focus to the President of the USA].

As such, the anime elicits a similar reaction to the novels. I liked it, with that wild final third being part of its appeal, rather than a flaw.

John Swasey is not one for using different people. If any of these Amazon titles end up with a none standard cast, it will most likely be Banana Fish as David Wald picks new people.

John is very capable of casting new acting talent when he wants to but like Kyle Jones and Shannon Reed he's grown far to complacent in recent years when it comes to casting and voice direction its quite apparent that Houston dubs have been hit and miss affairs because of this type of shit.
