The LN is on hiatus for so long i wasn't expecting an anime now.
I wouldn't mind an adaptation until the end on "The Lord of the Rust Mountains" arc, one cour might not be sufficient

On the one hand, I’m excited. I heard some really good things about the light novels when the first one was liscensed, although I admittedly haven’t heard much of anything since. On the other hand, the studio and that staff list does not inspire confidence.

I never got around to checking this one out myself, but Rebecca gave the first volume of the novels a high grade and the concept sounds interestingly different as isekai titles go. I'm looking forward to this one.

Their bad work on Hatena Illusion looked to be just one major mistake so I think visually, their work on this will look much better even in episodic motion, even if it's par the course as many isekai with moderate production values.

I really hope this will finally convince J-Novel Club to print the novels, and I know they already revealed the manga is being printed. Only problem is that they’ve already revealed their print slate up to November so we probably won’t get v1 printed in time for the anime even though it’s been translated for years Sad

Maybe the main reason it is getting an anime adaptation now is so they plan on resuming it now and are using the anime to promote it again along with a new volume release, at least i hope it is the case.

I just hope they can end at a good point in the story and don't rush it,

I always had Will pegged as blonde. Not a fan of his voice either.

Author confirmed that he will be resuming it along with the web novel so that is indeed the case.

I love The Faraway Paladin and it was this series that convinced me to get a subscription to J-Novel club to read the chapters as quickly as possible.

If anyone liked the general idea of Mushoku Tensei but were put off by Rudeus I would wholeheartedly recommend this, as it's a very similar premise with a protagonist greatly regretting their original life and trying to live without regrets.

That said it's not a copy, Will's guardians have their own very different flaws and there's even a very similar inciting incident. Mushoku had spoiler[the teleportation incident splitting up everyone]and Faraway Paladin has spoiler[the literal god of death show up to claim his guardian's souls]

I only hope that the popularity of the anime convinces or motivates the author to write more as I haven't seen any more chapters released in quite a while on J-Novel club.

The novels are an amazing read. They're not exactly Narou isekai, and it feels more like contemporary western fantasy novels.

OTOH, the scale of the novel's epicness is also what gets me worried about the quality of the adaptation.

More than a year ago I read somewhere (in the notes for a manga chapter I think) that it had been picked up for an anime, but wasn’t able to find any reference to it from then until now. Was beginning to think I had imagined it.

Yeah, I hope they don’t rush the start at least because although the rest is very good, the first arc is the best part.

This is actual fantasy, right? Not isekai/game-referencing stuff, right?

No, it's an isekai but certainly not the kind you're probably thinking of, this one is closer to "actual fantasy" than most isekai. The Faraway Paladin is both famous and infamous for having one of the most mature and incredible beginning in the isekai genre and falling off starting the 3rd volume. However, it doesn't mean that the serie became bad, i've enjoyed every volumes so far, it's just no longer incredible like the first 2 volumes were.

It has been on hiatus for years and it seems like it's coming back soon, so maybe we can expect that the author got some awareness during this absence and can put its work back in its earlier shape when it was a character driven novel and not a plot driven one.
