I hope you have a fast and easy recovery!

A world-wide launch for DQ XII would be amazing Anime smile

It would have been nice to see Skies of Arcadia on that list. I'm sure there are far more IPs than I can think of missing that wouldn't fit on there, so it's not too annoying, but I hope it doesn't mean that it's not even being thought of.
At least give me a remaster Sega!

Looking forward to that Saga review too. Curious to see how it turned out.

I'm not sure there's enough demand for worldwide Dragon Quest releases. There's still games that don't get brought over and it's still a fairly niche fanbase in the west all things considered. The mobile games also do pretty poorly here, what with Dragon Quest of the Star's Global version shutting down just one year after it launched. It's hard to imagine that kind of treatment for series that aren't global hits like Nintendo games or Final Fantasy.

I'm dismayed to see that OutRun isn't on Sega's list of dormant IP's that they're considering reviving, probably because the Ferrari license is expensive.

I'd be interested in a proper new console-based Crazy Taxi as long as it isn't like that phone game from a few years ago.

Kind of want to echo these sentiments in the last point. Although thereally are hold overs and a handful of anime based titles we still don't get , like love live, there are plenty of once obscure series where we pretty much get the same as Japan . Legends series comes to mind , the umi games , the announced the Wright prequel games, hell even nier replicant is just the original nier. So I think for a series like dragon quest unless it's either really obscure spinoff or something weird like the mobile nature of ten, we will pretty much get it, and I can see a worldwide release being possible . Once you commit to releasing the game for sure , the delays between release become less of an issue.

I'm not sure how that SUPER GAME's gonna work out. I'm not saying it could never work, but when studios put so much weight on a single IP to preform like this, things usually don't go according to plan. (Especially when it's coming in such a saturated genre.)

Maybe I'm being too pessimistic — Sega has been having a very good last couple of years, so maybe they could actually pull it off.

Yeah, Saga Frontier is one of those games where we look at it and think "How did we EVER figure these games out, let alone BEAT them?" Anyway.

-PS5: yeah, the more we hear about this, the more the new generation was released prematurely. It's also why I give side eye to people frothing at the mouth over "Switch Pro" rumors no matter how nonsensical. Typically it takes at least two years for a console generation to really get going, but I'm going to have to revise this even further.

-SEGA: Hmmmmm, this super game intrigues me. I just wonder what form it would take

Nier: Automata and Astral Chain were my post-surgery recovery games back in January, along with a selection of MAME beat-em-ups I had been meaning to play for years and copious amounts of anime. Other than not being able to use my right foot, it was a pretty fun time.

Hey, SEGA, here’s some low hanging fruit: Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3. You bungled this series by demoting it to the PSP, really messed up with Valkyria Revolution, but then won everyone back with the highly-regarded Valkyria Chronicles 4 on PS4 and Switch. Now’s your opportunity to take the assets from 2 and 3 — the story, the character and mechanical designs, the glorious Hitoshi Sakimoto soundtracks, the scripts (with an English translation of VC2, at least) — and put them on viable hardware. It might be more of a remake to de-portable the games and restore the battlefield scope of of a main series title like 1 and 4, but now’s the time, while the franchise is still fresh in players’ memories.

^Good call. I'd love to see a console remake of VC2 and finally see VC3 brought over.

While on the subject, hearing about VC5 being in development would be great too.

In the interest of fairness had more people been willing to buy the first game in addition to it not being exclusive to a notoriously expensive console those two would've never been on the PSP. Then again considering the two Yakuza spin-offs that got put on the PSP it probably would've happened anyway.

I do wonder if the Valkyria Chronicles franchise is too western for many Japanese players, yet too anime for many western players. Granted, that tends to be a sweet spot for me, but I'm far from mainstream.

I'd be puzzled if that were the case between all the related media Japan got compared to us (which granted not all of which seemed to stick) on top of the popularity of Girls Und Panzer.

Claude having to deal with two Tsundere's in 4 and the game practically pushing him to wind up with the worse is practically one of the key things that's taken me out of finishing it.

That and Raz's insubordination and recklessness once again being disregarded. Which is kinda more of a western thing i.e. "Maverick That Plays By His Own Rules".
