Sounds good, I'll definitely be picking this up at some point. Disappointing to see that quality of life stuff like showing weaknesses weren't added in though.

Just a heads up, in the negative summary at the bottom "a bit frustrating" is written twice.

A minor correction. The review mentions that later SMTs returned to first person dungeon crawling but only one of them does (Strange Journey). Both IV and its sequel at in third person.

The ultimate protip here is to fuse Daisoujou as soon as you can. Seriously, Meditation and Prayer together on a relatively easy demon you can get a third of the way though is nuts.

The DLC feels a little spiteful, as without it you have neither the Dante nor Raidou cameos and you cannot access the Amala Labyrinth or the True Demon ending.

That sounds awful. I guess I took for granted that the Maniax content was in the previous western release, but the endgame is nowhere near as satisfying if you don't do the Amala Labyrinth first.

So, from what I was able to gather, Atlus ensured that the base release didn't have the Maniax content because they wanted to avoid possible legal trouble in other nations. Raidou's outfit is apparently outlawed in some Asian countries due to its connections to Imperial Japan. The DLC was the best alternative to having to do some complicated redesigns.

But it's not all bad! At least Dante has Pierce now.

Hold up. Both Raidou and Dante are locked behind dlc? I thought only Dante was? And that Raidou was in the base game itself. I don't think you have to buy the dlc to unlock Amala Network? Or atleast that's what I heard.

Yeah Raidou is automatically included in the console version of the game and is free DLC in the Steam version according to this tweet from Atlus:

Yes, only Dante is. On the PC though Raidou is also DLC, and you need to download one or the other to unlock the TDE content.

But Raidou's free, the review is wrong.
