I really need to read the manga at some point, I absolutely loved the movie despite the criticism I've seen of it. Now that Seven Seas finally licensed it for print I might have to start picking it up

If you enjoyed I Hear the Sunspot, Seaside Stranger should definitely be on your reading list.

I have said a few times I enjoyed I Hear the Sunspot and wanted more titles like it haven't I? What's 1 more new series to add to the pile the size of Mt Everest right? Anime dazed

Not entirely sure if this is the originator of the "self-deprecating gay guy meets better adjusted love interest" BL subgenere or just the definitive work. Being basically Shun IRL (for better or worse), I find this is the one I keep going back to.

The movie is cute, but the manga is better. A lot more graphic (which you wouldn't expect from something so cute), but the extra details in the lead couples' intimacy definitely makes a difference.

(Mio seems to be bi or pan, although it could just be the “gay for you” trope rearing its ugly head)
It's not really a "spoiler" as such, but the sequel series does take some steps to clarify that spoiler[he is, in fact, pan (he admits that gender isn't really a factor for him), and just very inexperienced in general]. It may be a retcon, but a lot of the unfortunate things he says in this volume can be taken as really bad phrasing. Laughing

I wonder why this doesn't have a digital release version?

Generally speaking, filmmakers will try to make movies more accessible to a wider variety of audiences, so it's going to be more youth-friendly (unless the intended rating is more explicit).

I would agree with this if it wasn't for the fact that spoiler[there's still a sex scene at the end of the movie, and it's not subtle at all. There's also a few less explicit passionate moments that I'll admit aren't very well built up to] though these issues seem like they're not there in the manga like wolf10 said.
