I actually wish more anime would adapt historical stories. I have always felt there are plenty of Japanese historic evsnts that deserve attention. Imagine a series about the Bubble Economy of the late 1980s. Or other events that are beyond the usual eras used in anime. I wish someone in anime would adapt James Clavell's Asia saga. It provides a lot of historical knowledge about Japan and Asia relations.

Would love more media on Japanese history during the Sengoku era. That's what I find more interesting than anything to do with the western side of things and the world wars. So many famous stories of individuals or battles during that period that can be depicted, even during the Heian era.
