I did not care for this volume, I don’t care for boob jokes and that WAS literally the only joke in the manga, but ended up reading the second on a whim and the change in quality just about floored me.

The second volume hits a lot of the relationship notes it needed to be actually worth reading and the joke delivery is way better. It’s worth a read, in my opinion, just because it gets quite better (YMMV). As in, I didn’t care if I ever read another and now it’s on my regular reads list.

It does get much better when the side-characters get properly introduced, like the charming siblings of both leads and the group of delinquent girls.
But it really is a relaxed read with adorable art but not something that will stay in your mind for long. The male lead and generally uninteresting core romance are the biggest problems.

Don’t forget the boy isn’t that soft.
That’s what disappoints me with these kind of stories.

They never actually have take the weak boy x strong girl romance aspect at heart and this just seems like another one of these things.

It would be lovely if there was a story like I described above.

Would be even better if the female was taller, older, MUSCULAR, and NOT a Tsundere or a ditzy airhead.

Or Saotome Girl, hitakakusu by Mizuguchi Naoki. The female isn't older than the male MC, but the rest fits the description.

This is comfort food, IMO. Something to enjoy just for the sake of feeling good, nothing more. It picks up later on, but some people have dropped the series because "it never goes anywhere." While I'm fine with the episodic and situational humor myself, I can see why people would get bored of it, though.

While a lot of series hit the right notes, a lot of them are not that interested in portraying this kind of dynamic, a good example it's the very Hitomi-chan, the dynamic isn't soft boy and strong girl, but gentle giant and small supportive friend. Also, there are other ways to make the strong girl and weak boy work without highlighting muscles of physique, one of them being attitude, like In Shikinamori-san isn't just cute or even giving them different social stands and ability to socialize, like in Nagatoro-san
