It's gonna be Cowboy Bebop all over again.

They might as well quit making live action shows of our favorite anime because they’ll ruin it!

The manga/anime is here to stay, it's not gonna replace it even if it flops. Stop acting like whiny little brats.

I concluded that much once I saw Alvida. Between Bebop, that terrible Halo show, and now this, I’m at the point where I’m convinced Apple TV has the best idea. Nothing but original ideas or ideas from books with the exception of Fraggle Rock. It clearly works, CODA won Best Picture, but these big franchise adaptations keep crashing and burning.

I don't care if it's bad or strays from the manga too much, i just want it to be entertaining.

I hope it also gets cancelled two weeks after its premiere like Netflix Bebop was.

What makes me hopeful is that Netflix never compromises about having a show with more than two seasons, and One Piece has been running for 20+ years, so I don't see this show keeping up with the manga/anime for more than said two seasons... which maked this whole enterprise a lot more useless and uncalled for. I still think that, if anything, this show should've been at Amazon or Apple TV+.

Man you guys’s negativity never ceases to amaze me. I mean the “anime elitisism” here is just something else. If anything, I want this to be good or at least decent just to spite all the crap I hear about it. Granted I can understand be apprehensive but it’s just, seriously its so obnoxious.

I don't really have high expectations of this adaptation being good per se, but I do hope it will at least be fun.

And if it does accomplish that and somehow ends up getting greenlit for a second season, I honestly hope they go full FMA2003 with it.

Even without the latest manga chapter making a live action adaptation even more of an absurd concept than before, the sheer length of the series means a full adaptation will never be a real possibility, so might as well let them take the setting/concepts in a new direction and see what happens.

One of your choices is not to read the comments if you don't like what you read. Nobody's forcing you to have a mandated opinion.

It's not nEgAtIvItY; most people here have seen their fair share of horrid live-action adaptatations and how people butcher the source material most of the time in the name of doing a "grounded" product that could be at the same time "its own thing", so the opinions here are as valid as your petulant, derisive one.

That's what I'm hoping for, either somehow it turns out to be actually good or is so stupidly bad, it's entertaining. Not some bad but not terrible adaptation, that's not worth watching.

Being apprehensive is not a problem, I am too. But you know, a little research doesn’t hurt. Look, see Oda is involved with every casting decision. Check out the leaked script or the many reviews of it (which was scrubbed off the net by netflix but you can still find it). Look at these things, then form an opinion. I don’t see any of that. I have never understood the obsession with being purposefully ignorant about things and remaining one sided, it’s like people want to be that way so they don’t have to think about it. It’s blind hate and that’s what I’m reacting to. The idea that extreme negativity is somehow better than hoping for the best is just beyond cynical and as far as I’m concerned, tends to cause more problems than anything else.

I for one welcome this adaptation. The casting so far has been on point, Oda is an executive producer behind the series, and if the leaked script is legit, the series will be solid and full of world building right from the get go.

The difference to me here is cowboy bebop should have been successful if they handled it in a remotely competent way, this I really can’t picture being successful no matter what they do.
