the anime could have been much better, I like stories of this type, I mean the gender bender ones, but it's a shame that almost all of the ones that have been adapted had bad animes like ore no twintail

I could never get into this since its plot did little for me. The gender bender aspect also mind as well not exist since it only is brought up for humor and she acts like a girl from the very start.

Sometimes the most important aspect of gender bending is simply the fact its what the show is presented as on the surface. Its a popular enough theme for drawing in that segment of the fanbase. Of course what's also important is whether the story is compelling or keeps you watching, the genderbending gags are just icing on the cake for the fans who got into in for that reason.

I mean the same could be said of other themes such as mecha. I tend to avoid mecha shows but one could be compelling to watch especially if it seemed like the mecha aspect was not really relevant to the story. It just happens to have people going about on giant robots to lure in those mecha fans.
