Yeah, I thought when the next season was announced to be airing only a year after the first I assumed it would be the same staff, but the change being made so soon worries me, especially considering how the last arc sort of fell off in terms of production values

Brain's Base rarely do sequels or more than one season outside of Natsume. So it's not totally surprising.

What matters the most is to carefully adapt the manga.

At least the music composer is still the same. The music was one of the best aspects of season 1, and one of the few that didn't go to shit during the last arc. (Still no standalone OST release for S1 because Aniplex is Aniplex...)

Ouch. I hope the series doesn't get the Onepunchman decline treatment. Then again, the staff was lazy as heck when making the prison arc.

No one was lazy. They simply didn't have enough time and I wouldn't be surprised that's the reason a relatively minor studio takes over now – Brain's Base simply couldn't fit another 2-cour anime airing only one year later into their schedule. NHK was probably adamant to keep the schedule, so I'm really not confident about the quality of season 2.

People really need to stop with this whole "they were lazy" nonsense. You don't work as an animator to be "lazy" and as Blackiris explained above, most of these situations can be easily explained by a bad schedule.

The prison arc was so astoundingly bad that I dropped the show before finishing it even though the Takunaha arc was one of the highlights of all anime last year.

If you drop anime that easily, you may drop 8/10 series. Episode 20 was one of the best episodes of to your eternity and everyone who liked the start and dropped after episode 13, are really unlucky

Besides brains base rarely doing sequels . I think this just reeks of rushed. Considering how booked anime studios are they had to find a studio willing to take on the task to produce the anime at a fast pace. Hence the minor studio. Not gonna get my hopes up as if history is any reminder this will be a definite step down from the first season Feelsbadman

So why exactly did people hate the prison arc again? I'll admit it had a somewhat rough start but I still enjoyed it enough to keep watching.
