I waited 6 years for a new Konosuba anime (not including the movie even if its canon) so one more year wont hurt

It definitely is. The movie adapts Volume 5 of the light novels with only a few minor changes (Like Hanz and Verdia joining into Sylvia's boss form), but those changes are on the same level as most of the other changes the anime has made.

Slight correction: Kanasaki's credit is "chief supervisor" (総監修) rather than "chief director" (総監督).
"Chief supervisor" is Kouhei Horikoshi's credit on all (or most) of the My Hero Academia films, "chief director" is the actual directing credit. Minor Kanji distinction but the nuances are very different

A fan of Konosuba but not all into the lore but I welcome a less comedic take, especially relative to Megumin...

I just finished reading the last LN, let's see... six minutes ago.
So: neat.
Would love to see the main series proper (eventually) get a full adaptation someday, if only to see Megumin cackling on top of the Demon King's castle and declaring herself the new Demon King while chucking Explosions around like mad.
Or at least, you know, just adapt volume 6 already. If I'm not misremembering, it had the best/funniest climax out of the series. One that would be great to see animated with a movie's budget, but you know what they say about beggars.

Season 3 was also announced and with vol 5 out of the way thanks to the movie, adapting vol 6 should be a given though its clear they're gonna prioritize Explosions.

Hahaha, I remember reading the LN introduction to An Explosion on This Wonderful World! It was hilarious. Classic Konosuba-style chuuni. I can't wait to see it adapted to anime.

Very happy about this but I wish it was another season of the main story, which is coming. This will hold me over in the mean time.
