It does make sense considering his involvement. Then again, I'm not sure it carries the same significance when the game will close there anyway. You can either finish the game and lose your progress, or not finish it and lose it anyway. I will give them credit for at least making an ending based around the game ending, instead of the typical, "Game is closing on set date, enjoy it while you can."
