Looks like Senia Yamada's adventures weren't as over as we thought after GXP ended.

Ai Uchikawa is returning to voice D from Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure in the year of 2023.
What a time to be alive. Razz

And Hiroshi Negishi is back on this project too? Very cool.
The ability of the Tenchi staff to reassemble some of these people after so many years will always impress me.

I'm kind of disappointed this is being done as an OVA and not as a TV series which means we'll have to wait months in between for a single episode.

Considering the state AIC is now, I won't expect any TV series from them anytime in the nearest future. It's not the Gonzo case where they started making TVs 2 years after being on the brink of bancruptcy.

Yeah, and I was getting really into the idea of them making the two Megazone 23 projects they had announced years ago. RIP A.I.C.

Honestly i am surprised AIC has not gone into Bankruptcy right now.

The Tenchi series must truly be their last lifeline to have kept them alive all this time.

I am also surprised Horishi is back and doing an ova continuity series.

The real issue i have with the tenchi franchise as a whole is that pretty much nothing has been remotely that good past all the 90's version with the main exception probably being War on Geminar. It is impossible to appreciate these new shows when it skips over the event s that cover the book but not only that it focus one events even past that since the books have yet to finish even some of the jp fandom gets confused.

I really wish we can do a remake of the GXP series covering it all, if that is made, the past ovas would probably be a lot better to watch since the gaps will be covered and it begs another question, if this is a prequel to the Paradise War books. Would they make an adaption of that too? Cause Paradise War from what i read can stand much on it's own much like War on Geminar provided you just have the basic info of the GXP story as it mostly features a new protagnist and new characters.

This new series isn't being done by AIC but by some studio called EXNOA unless AIC is like funding the show or something. But I also recall Toei bought AIC awhile back.

The article says it's being animated by AIC and a company called Saber Project who has no other credits when it comes to animation, they seem to do a whole lot of other stuff according to their website though.

Interestingly, the Saber Project website mentions that they were involved in a Saber Marionette J reboot that was announced in 2015 that never released.

AIC apparently announced it appointed a new CEO this week…Inoue Mashahiro, AKA the actor who played Kamen Rider Decade.

So if the AIC library continues to sit still save the occasional contextless Tenchi OVA, this is also Decade’s fault.

Also a Saber Marionette reboot feels like something Netflix would commission.

Takashi Asami didn't direct Sakura Wars, the ANN Encyclopedia is incorrect. Sakura Wars was directed by Ryuutarou Nakamura, with Toshimasa Suzuki (SHAFT) assisting.

Asami was just an episode director on the series

AIC and EXNOA are both production companies, as is Saber Project, but none of them have any animation departments (AIC's animation department was disbanded in 2015 according to Atsushi Okuda). The actual animation front for this OVA is likely being done at Digital Network Animation, who is credited for production assistance. Takashi Asami, the director, is close to DNA; and the photography director, Yutaka Nagaushi, is the CEO of DNA. Chief animation director Tomoyuki Abe is also an employee of DNA.

Saber Project is Negishi's production company, that was originally set up for the aforementioned Saber Marionette production.

Back then the main element that drew me to GXP in the first place was the fact it was directed by Shinichi Watanabe the guy behind the insanity that was the Excel Saga tv series. Looking back, that draw power has kinda waned.

do not forget this Miki Steinbeck character is clearly Mitsuki Sanada ( or an alternate version of her) even being voiced by Rie Tanaka. That we are getting a semi sequel to not only GXP but Dual has me super excited. We already knew they had connections its great to see them cash it in.

Edit: omg looked more into the characters and arc and now my mind is blown. I knew gxp had connections to Dual but being a way to bring most of the characters into main Tenchi timeline is crazy. Tenchi lore is an insane overstuffed lore burrito.
