Mild type (considering the theme of idol Vtubers), but yeah - it is 100% yuri for sure.

Yeah. Ever since I checked out the novel I knew it'll really work as an anime.

After the idol and isekai anime, will the vtubers be the new cancer trend?

I'm not really the target audience, but considering most of the VTubers that I have seen use motion capture, it bothers me that the teaser doesn't animate her that way. The animation seems to suggest that they intend for her to have that style of avatar, but that isn't happening. She just moves a bit and completely freezes for several seconds before moving again.

Nay, that's not motion capture in teaser - it's just regular face tracking software that many pure Live2D VTubers use, where the character "freezes" meaning that person face behind the screen is out of the camera focus.

Also this teaser not represent the animation at all, of course.

Right, I meant to say face tracking.

Judging by the tone of her voice, I thought only the second half was supposed to be post-stream, but maybe that was the entire trailer. If that's the case, then never mind.

I know there have been a bunch of light novels and manga on the subject, but is this the first anime about vtubers?

If we discount the anime with actual VTubers like Virtual-san wa Miteiru... probably yes, because Kizuna no Allele seems more like an idol-type show that does not touch the VTubing scene.

Unseiso idol Vtuber? That's good since I like those type of Vtubers. The animation isn't fitting of Vtubers though, also more talent in their drunk streams tend to not expose their real voices these days, so that's dating things quite a bit (then again I'm watching a lot more talent who ditch the voice changer or exaggerated voices).

Woah I remember reading this years ago for a bit when it started out on Hamelin/Kakuyomu but theres something really off-putting to me about media based on fake Youtubers/Vtubers/Streamers and I can't explain why

Though I don't watch Japanese vtubers that much, I feel like the premise is less provocative than it sounds, since there don't seem to be a whole lot of "seiso" or overly ladylike ones to begin with. Being kind of unhinged in a unique manner is almost required to get noticed, with the enormous and fast-growing vtuber population.

I dunno if this type of thing could overthrow isekai, since the latter doesn't require any specific knowledge to understand; nobody who doesn't know about (or dislikes) vtubers is likely to watch this. They are becoming more mainstream, though.

The way I look at it “Vtubers as an anime/manga genre” will never be as huge as isekai and the like, because you can just watch Vtubers if you want that. You can’t just isekai yourself lmfao since that doesn’t exist.

Having read a couple volumes of the novels, the main character sort of reminded me of Akai Haato vs Haachama.
